Which country/culture has the worse cuisine?

My vote is Britain.

Beans on toast, Marmite (yeast extract) on bread, and cheese & Branston pickle spread on buttered bread sandwich. WTF!

Their comfort foods sound like weird cravings that a pregnant woman would have.

Well I like Fish and Chips and I always thought that was a British meal.

reply

I wonder if their chips are better than Nathan's and McDonald's? If not, than all is loss in regard to British cuisine since that's the only decent food they appear to have.

reply

"My vote is Britain."

Dont forget Australia - thats like the infant child of UK cuisine who hasnt even learned to get to Britain standard yet.

"Chuck a meat pie in the micro" is about it.
possibly then dumped into some soup.

reply

You're going to start the whole Vegemite vs Marmite war all over again.

😂

Not exactly.

Would I be right in assuming you haven’t been to Australia lately? The cuisine is quite sophisticated, it has some of the best restaurants in the world.

Ethiopia

Signed, million man.

reply

We actually have a great Ethiopian restaurant here.

Greece I don't like the spices.

reply

I'm not taking this fucking slander.

Listen here I had a co-worker from Africa who told me they eat rats, his uncle tried to get him to try it and he wouldn't (can't blame the guy). This is part of the 'bushmeat' practice in the place. They also eat fucking monkeys and bats.

Don't they eat dogs, cats, bats and shit in China?

Oh no beans on toast, somebody call the police!

reply

If the rats, dogs and bats are properly prepared and seasoned, then it's an improvement over the British unimaginative, salty, processed, canned beans on Wonder bread.

What's wrong with Canadian cuisine?

reply

Oh, I did that to tease the Canadian members here :)

Now excuse me while I have some flipper pie and moose heart with boiled fiddleheads and ketchup potato chips on the side

reply

LOL....

I was just really curious, as so many of the foods mentioned here from Britain weren't my experience there, so I was wondering what someone else thought of Canadian food. We do have a lot more than just poutine....

I've never had seal meat, so no flipper pie for me. Moose meat is okay, but I don't like organ meat, also fiddleheads grow in the US too. 😜

reply

UGH...YOU ATE A MOOSE?....THAT'S GROSS.

AT LEAST YOU DIDN'T EAT A SEAL I GUESS.

AND WHAT IN THE FUCK IS A FIDDLEHEAD????

reply

I also like Yak.

A fiddlehead is a frond. They aren't really to my liking, but I've had them.

reply

YAK...WOW...HARD PASS FROMK KOWALSKI....WHAT DOES MOOSE AND YAK TASTE LIKE?...UGH

LEAVES?....THAT'S KOALA FOOD...THIS THREAD IS LEGIT FREAKING ME OUT.

reply

Some of the best food I ever ate in my life was when I vacationed in Canada. I went to only regular diners, but the food was always outstanding. They can cook!!!!

reply

WANNA SPLIT A TRIP AND EAT SOME CANADIAN?.....LET ME KNOW...I'M IN.

reply

I have no idea how to take that friend. I hope you aren't really a cannibal in disguise.

reply

EVERYONE WILL LIKE ME MUCH BETTER IF THE STAY OFF THE FBI WEBSITE....THAT'S ALL I'M SAYING.

As someone who has been here, you know that the OP is employing a stereotype about 'British cuisine' that is actually decades out of date. I meet North Americans here fairly frequently, because I live in tourist area. And one of the recurring conversations is about their surprise that the food is actually quite good here. So it's clearly a persistent idea... as is that one about us all knowing the King.

I'd also add that we have much higher food safety standards than the USA. Despite Brexit, we're still not taking their chlorinated chickens and other assorted bits of crap.

WHAT IN THE HELL?...PEOPLE EAT THOSE THINGS?
