Young Marble Giants- didn’t know this band at all until a few years ago…read somewhere they were an early influence on a young Cobain, so I looked into it and glad I did…
Minor Threat- I knew this would come up and man, a bad beat for me. I had Out of Step on vinyl and traded it in the 90s for some bullshyt. Not my finest hour, damn. Along with 7 Seconds, straight edge punk at its finest….

16 years old at the time, she had started her career at age 14 with LA underground Punk band Venus & The Razor Blades, when she was noticed & championed by the infamous Kim Fowley & legendary LA Radio DJ Rodney Bingenheimer, & got a deal with MCA Records. The album, unfortunately, didn't go anywhere, & she was dropped from the label. She seemed to have disappeared from the business entirely after 1980/81.
She was kind of ahead of her time. Although classified as "New Wave", she was more of a Rockabilly/Roots Rock revivalist & had a earthy voice that belied her young age.
Just before the time I became musically conscious, if you will, so this a new. Fowler and Bigenheimer- oh yeah, I know those dudes and Rodney on the Roq always showed love to some good up-and-comers, so that’s a solid endorsement in addition to yours. Thanks for the info…

Sex Pistols are the iconic one. It's surprising such an important band only released one studio album.
Death Ride '69 released "Elvis Christ" in 1988. They did have a second album 8 years later. Still, they counted as a one album band for those 8 years!

First sentence, nothing to add because I think the same thing. But with Johnny Rotten’s distaste for the establishment, the business, Malcolm McLaren, and essentially, everybody, the writing was on the wall well before the Winterland debacle. Plus, Sid Vicious’ death didn’t help, but not for his musical acumen or anything like that. It just seemed like they were destined for their place in the annals of punk as a blueprint for raw energy and also for the “live fast die young” mantra. (“Live Fast, Die Young” a great song from the Circle Jerks’ “Group Sex” album, but I digress…)
I’ll have to look into Death Ride ‘69…reading and then saying aloud “Elvis Christ” gave me a chuckle…
