The layout for this forum isn't very exciting
It's like, a cyber prison.
shareThe simple layout is perfect!

You got that right. It's so 20th century, very primitive.
🤨
You have 90% of the people on filmboards on block. It's crap and always will be.
share
No I don't. I haven't blocked anyone in months.
Meanwhile I could debate for hours the quality of the content, but Filmboards' features are definitely WAY ahead of this primitive site, Shaquatta. I've posted here for years, and have yet to see a single improvement.
🤨
It would be nice if this place had a Quote button when you wanted to quote someone instead of copy/paste the link, but other than that, I admire the site being as lenient as it is and so much, you'd have to murder someone to get banned
shareA search function would be a nice addition.
shareI aways find google a better way to search a site than the site's own search box , especially if you tell it to search that site only , like this:
site:moviechat.org "forum isn't very exciting"
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=site%3Amoviechat.org+"forum+isn%27t+very+exciting"
Oh for sure, it's just a shame you can't search for threads on the actual site itself.
shareThe only thing I'd like for this site to have is an acknowledgement button. Pretty much a button when you don't have anything to say, but you just want to acknowledge what someone said to you. Similar to "likes".
shareIdea is dumb as fuck.
Any likes are dumb as fuck.
You either like something or you dont, no need to get feedback if others like it or not.
Likes should be for technical posts only
As I said, it's not actually a like, it's just an acknowledgment. For example if someone says "thank you", instead of responding with "you're welcome", you just give them an acknowledgement.
shareStill a cheap like. You start with this shit, the next thing the comments gonna get moved up because so many thanks, and then you get a bunch of fucktards saying shit like "thanks for the gold/thanks/thumbs up, kind stranger" or " i was away shaving my balls, I didnt expect this to blow up, let me clarify more my point of view".
Normal people have the ability to read in chronological order and discern whatever is interesting, no need for gratifying shit in order to appeal to "wider audience or shit like that".
👍
shareThat makes no sense. It's threaded and layered just like IMDb. I like the quote in boxes style on ProBoards, but this works. You can always see who replied to whom and follow the conversation.
shareI wouldn't change this layout ever. Simple, easy to use, no crappy scripts, no useless glitter, just as a forum should be.
All those sites downgrading their layouts with bigger buttons especially for the brain dead swiping demographic make me wanna puke.
By the way, as maxim said, share buttons are useless, sorting is always welcome as long as the user has a default sorting option;
one thing I would add is a solution when you read the n-th reply to your post from mobile. Often I have to switch to desktop view to see what the other guy is saying
And some things I love:
- no stupid "do you want to navigate away from this page" messages. Simple/old school is awesome.
- no profile pictures. Love this
- no bold/italic formatting crap
- no promotional bullshit like watch this on netflix for 2 blowjobs and a line of coke, Limited offer!
Some things I would add:
- a button with list of movies of actor/director. Editable by users deemed fit by admins in order to reduce workload. Simple text displaying role/character played hyperlinking the appropriate page of the movie.
- every page of a movie/actor/whatever in the above list should have a simple indicator like "4 new posts in the last x months"
I like it this way. Simple and to the point. There is no need for extra frills.
