Paring down modern convenience

There's nothing wrong with modern conveniences like streaming, smartphones, etc...

If you were to get rid of one, what would it be?

I'm getting rid of my smartphone today. It's great, but too much of a distraction.

I'd get get rid of streaming for movies and tv shows. Bring back physical media to the mainstream.

reply

I'm not for that because a lot of older Marvel cartoons are only available on streaming. You can't get them physically legally if you live in the U.S like I do. I'd get rid of Uber cause I never use it. Last time I used Uber they couldn't send a driver to pick me up for work at 6:30am. Nobody wants to drive then. I can't drive a car.

reply

I just use them less.

reply

I've never owned a smartphone.
I never use the dishwasher that came with my apartment. I hand wash them. I'd trade it for more cabinet space any day.

reply

Sounds like a galley kitchen. I don't miss those.

reply

Dishwashers are more work than doing it by hand. You have to clean the dishes beforehand anyway. Plus I've never seen one which didn't leave soap spots. Lousy invention.

reply

That's what I hate plus having to unload it.

Orgasmatron - I’m slowly going blind.

reply

Keep it up, the other senses grow after losing one.

Woody Allen hides in the Orgasmatron to elude his pursuers

reply

Haha. Love Woody. And fuck the haterz.

reply

I could probably live without a smartphone but I’d really miss the instant access to Spotify. It’s by far the most used app on my phone.

reply

My wife agrees with you.

reply

MY DAUGHTER ALSO AGREES WITH YOU.

reply

Smartphone, smart TV.

reply

Asides from the internet itself I don't have streaming in terms of Netflix etc
I think a smartphone is reasonable.
Laptop is fine.

I don't have much of a tech heavy house really. No smart watches etc
