πŸ” Surge pricing 🍟 πŸ™„

Burger chain Wendy's claimed it is testing a roll out of "enhanced" digital menus. Of course, what they're really doing is employing "surge" pricing at some of its locations. Just another way to claim they're providing customers with a better experience (of higher prices).

Where I live they're probably on the bubble of going away.

Can't see this increasing their chances across the board.

reply

Me, neither. IF they experience a mealtime rush, I suspect that rush will be down to a trickle.

This is the problem with "profit growth". I'm sure that $30 Million could be spent in other ways, especially on their employees, but no, profits always have to be increasing.

reply

This scheme will fail, people will simply go elsewhere.

reply

Who cares, because all the best chefs in the world are men. Col. Sanders, Ronald McDonald, they is a million times better than Wendy.

But Dave Thomas was a cross dresser who liked to pretend he was Pippy Longstockings.

True story. Confirm it on Snopes if you want.

They all learned to cook from their moms.

If you stop near a Wendy's drive through, nearly everyone is ordering a $5 or $6 Biggie Box. You get one of several standard sandwiches, small fries, small drink and 4 chicken nuggets, with your choice of sauce. I'm not sure that the other fast food chains can match that value. I heard that Checkers is trying something similar.

But Wendy's regular menu is overpriced, as is now the case for McDonald's and others. McDonald's has individual franchises, and they have different prices at different restaurants, some significantly higher or lower than others nearby. One very busy McDonald's on a main road does not have a $1-$2-$3 menu at all; absolute greed.

If Wendy's wants to tinker with the price of its $5/$6 Biggie Box, they will collapse financially.

For a moment I thought they brought back Surge soda.

This reminds me of the 90s when you had a cell phone and the calls would be free after 6:00. People are going to go to Wendy's when the price is cheaper in the day.

reply

Absolute garbage company since Dave Thomas died.
