Are all reality shows crap?

yes they are. unless there is violence and sex involved

Reality Shows and FOX in general are geared toward a certain demographic that eat this shit up.. American Idol is probably the worst and should've been put out of it's misery a long time ago.. None and I mean, NONE of these singers today would be able to handle someone like Simon Cowell telling it like it is.. They'd hang themselves backstage over it

To a certain degree, yes. Most of them are pretty much scripted as well.

I watched the entire Ice Road Truckers, which was great.
American Pickers is also great.

Reality tv has that element of drama, but these two shows are the only ones I really pay attention to.

I think theres two very distinct types ,
Theres
type 1) "Lets get a load of wannabe famous extroverts , preferebly as shallow and brainless as possible and put them in a room together and film the results"

type 2) Film some people at work , or on some sort of challenge , eg "cops" or "SAS are you hardf enough"

for me type1 is horrific , type 2 sometimes watchable

I've never liked them, but the concept was good, the problem was like everything in america instead of letting everything be natural, which is so much more interesting, they decided to script everything. so they essentially became strange hybrids of sitcoms or dramas with "normal people"

generes usually last a decade or so then it's on to the next thing, our society is so lacking in creativity that even 25 years on, they are still rehashing reality shows with the same nonsense.

Pretty much, but doesn't mean they're not fun. Crap can be entertaining.
