I'd gotten a nice, new turn table a couple years back, ran out to the thrift record shops and collected a ton of old albums I used to have, bought a few brand new ones, played with it all for a month, and got tired of flipping records over, after having thousands of hours of MP3s at my beck and call, none stop. the discs are leaning up in the corner, the turntable is closed, and its all collecting duct. cute toy, but its utility does not deliver TO ME: ease of enjoying lots of music almost non-stop. It's just too much work.
I do like the albums covers but that's about it.

I remember back in 1989/1990 there was a vinyl record player developed that would play regular vinyl records using a laser pickup instead of a stylus. It apparently failed as a consumer product but was used by libraries.
