What's the weather like where you are?

It's mostly been throwing it down with rain here in Notts UK, sadly no festive snow.

Grey and wet.

I'm in Florida now, just a little bit north of Daytona Beach. It was in the 70s the first few days we were here, but highs have been in the low 60s the past few days and expected to stay in the 60s all next week. You can tell we're not from here, because the people who live here are bundled up like they're in The Arctic Circle, while we're running around in shorts and T-shirts. πŸ˜ƒ

I was on holiday in Orlando for last December when the cold front hit. Every morning my wife would wake up, looking daggers at me and say, β€œI thought you said it would be hot here.” Lol

reply

Yes...that was really a massive cold front (Our highs were below zero in Ohio, which doesn't happen very often) and it was really unlucky for you and your family to be in Florida at that particular time.

I can live with the 60s where we're at. Florida is such an interesting state to me weather-wise...the first time I ever went to Florida was my freshman year of college with the baseball team. We went to Cocoa Beach...all the guys were saying how warm it was going to be and it was 53 degrees (and dropping fast) standing on Cocoa Beach. It never did warm up for us that much while we were there. It's funny how 50 degrees can sometimes seem colder in Florida than 10 degrees in Ohio!

As a comparison, my family and I spent the end of 2018/beginning of 2019 in Orlando at a place with an outdoor water park. We had sunny skies and highs in the 70s/80s during our stay, except for our last afternoon/evening, when we got a big rainstorm that really cooled things off. We were also in Miami one year with a "La Nina Winter"...we had lows in the upper 30s one night/morning, which was unusually cold for Miami. Florida is known as the "Sunshine State," but the weather can be tricky at times in the Winter (I believe you said you lived in Florida for a time growing up, so I know you're already aware of it! πŸ˜ƒ I just find Florida to be a fascinating place! πŸ˜ƒ).

To be honest, we did virtually a whole month of theme parks, so the cooler weather wasn’t really a problem. When we arrived we got a bit of sunshine and again towards the end of the holiday when we were in Clearwater.

Growing up it always seemed like endless sunshine. Although I did remember that it seemed to always rain at about 2 o’ clock for about 10 minutes before the sun came back out again.

I’ve often said that I’d love to buy a second home for retirement in Naples, Fl.

Awesome! My wife and I spent our honeymoon in the Tampa/Clearwater Beach area. It was a blast! I'm glad that you did get some sunshine during your trip here.

Yes, I've heard the same about the rain. I think that's more true in southern Florida (like Naples, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, etc.). Here, we had a couple of rainy days, but mostly dry weather.

I've only driven thru the Naples area once (on the way to Miami one year), but I really liked what I saw of it. I agree that it would be a great retirement place (I can only dream of that, unfortunately! πŸ˜ƒ). I really like the St. Augustine area...even though it's in the northern part of Florida, I really like what I've seen of it.

Cold, but no snow currently, thankfully.

Interspersed by days that are just barely warm enough to play disc golf, and days that are not. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Weird. Very up and down, with the weather going from windy and wet to sunny and warm. And we're in the end of the first month of summer.

I'm on a business trip right now (for almost a month now) & it's getting up to 94 here.

It's too hot. I hate it. I'm missing out on winter. My favorite season!

Here in NJ. Been raining the last week, not heavy but constant. Running in the 40s & 50s.

Thing that stinks is I never had an opportunity to clean up the fall leaves this year. Now they are matted flat all over my lawn and I can't do anything until they dry up.

Usual South Carolina special. Freezing one day, summer the next. Last few years it's been windy as all hell cause they cleared out all the forests around here.
