Do you lie?

Do you lie?

If so, why? Under what circumstances? To make a “better” impression? To make money? To get or keep a job? Because you don’t know what else to do but lie? Because it makes you feel good to think that you are fooling others? Because you do not like who you really are?

Lies create the gaps in the foundation of Creation. The Devil is called The Prince of Lies for a reason. Every time we tell a lie, the world gets a little weaker.

Some of the best advice I ever received: “If you always tell the truth, you never have to try to remember what you told someone the last time.”

Do I lie?

Never.
Except this one time right here.

What are your answers to these questions?

reply

My honest answer is that I try not to lie, however, sometimes I feel the need to gloss over uncomfortable truths for the sake of relationships or convenience.

Purposefully misleading someone for my own benefit, whatever that may be, is something I've learned to abstain from at all costs as I've gotten older, as no good comes from it.

That being said, sometimes when your wife/gf asks "Let's do X, that sounds like fun, doesn't it?" it's better to just play along. 😜

I once told Kowalski he had nice looking back hair when it wasn't true.

Does that count?

reply

Not these days, I'm working on telling the truth tactfully instead. That's harder than lying.

Would you truthfully tell us how many users are on your ignore list?

The global population is 8.1 billion.

Great episode of "I Love Lucy" when she made a bet with Ricky that she wouldn't lie. She ended up making everyone angry with her brute honesty.

reply

I never lie! Oh... Wait.
