As a child, did you play with toys "meant" for another gender?

(i.e. boys playing with "girl toys", and girls playing with "boy toys")

I occasionally did as a boy. I liked to collect girl toys such as dolls and plushies if they interested me.

Yes I did - but they probably fell into more the gender neutral category like Lincoln Logs and erector sets.

Not a toy as such but my sister and I had a small pile of fancy dress clothes including this pink stripy dress and occasionally I’d wear it:

Not for any particular reason, I didn’t wish I was a girl or get turned on by it or anything, it was just there in the pile of fancy dress and sometimes I’d randomly put it on over my regular clothes for the heck of it.

Other than that I can't think of any toys "meant" for the other gender I played with as a kid, most of my toys were stuff like toy cars and gender neutral stuff.

Kids in my family played with opposite gender toys periodically. For instance, girls played with toy soldiers and boys played with hula hoops especially while playing together.

I had a cabbage patch kid. He had a hockey outfit, but I still always thought of them as a girls doll.

Yeah, was a huge fan of remote control cars and walkie talkies. Loved playing with plastic pirate swords and cap guns, although I hated the sound of shooting them and the smoke. Loved model trains. And all the licensed toys as well, like Transformers, Pokemon stuff, Power Rangers, etc. And my brothers played with my girly toys as well. And we shard an Atari 2600, then played the same PC games, then moved onto bigger game consoles on top of all that.

Toy cars with a parking garage and a transformer rip-off. Could be more, I had a lot of toys.

I only played with muscly He-Man toys greased up with slime! Manly as hell.

reply

Everyone did...which is why all toys should be gender neutral.
