I DON'T understand the hate against people who torrent movies.

Let's make it clear. I download everything from the pinnacle classics to the latest movies for free. If you can't get it some place, you can get it some place else. In good quality.

There is one rule to follow: Never. Pay. Anything that requires some kind of monetary transaction is forbidden. The only thing you should be paying for is your connection, which you can also get unlimited data on the cheap (if you do a little this and a little that)

So the people who think they think they're better because they own a hard copy? I got everything you watched in my drive. So what you made a rich director even richer? Get the hell away from me.

I'm a torrentor and I'm proud. So easy to circumvent it and get the picture for free. And what do you get for your paying? A pat on the head? Bunch of fools.

So let's say right now: I'm proud to download your stupid movie. I'll watch it, but never pay for it. Whatever in the world you want to say, go ahead and say it! But beware, because you can't take my money.

I won't say I've never done this, but I wouldn't call myself either proud of it or ashamed. I don't look down at others who do this regularly like yourself, and I don't think better of people who don't do it. If it's not possible for some people to pay, I don't believe they should be deprived of entertainment. That's nothing to do with sticking it to the man, this is about personal pleasures, which everyone should be entitled to and have access to.

"I'm a torrentor and I'm proud."

well good for you .

but do you even understand why this is wrong?

...no?

I don't get it... it costs like $2000 to set up a home server that can run 12,000+ movies and 1500+ TV series.... The user interface is better than Netflix and it can be used from anywhere on a Phone/TV apps. Additionally, your whole family can enjoy it...

If you are already paying for the bandwidth, why not utilize it to its full potential?

Its like paying for for an e-book when you can find it on library genesis? Or paying for porn. I bet Kowalski STILL BUYS PORNO-MAGAZINES... jk he likely steals his porn like everyone else.

OK so here's some problems with torrenting.

1. Most people don't know how to do it. They do not understand what peer-to-peer actually means (as opposed to server-side), they are anxious about installing a new program on their device, they aren't accustomed to torrent clients and don't trust them.

2. Most people who do know don't know how to do it properly. There are many torrents out there, which contain legitimate movie files, but are bundled with malware in the form of additional files, or the upload is just plain fishy.

3. Most people who do know and know how to do it properly, still mess up. Files may be of lower quality than it seems, designed for alternative resolutions, dubbed with a foreign language, or corrupted. It can take a substantial amount of time to get your movie, and even then it may be the wrong thing.

There's nothing intrinsically wrong with buying and owning your own copy. And it looks good when you do. A legitimate collector will always have more status than a pirate, and why not. Especially when copies are kept in good condition, geared for a younger audience, or are of limited quantity and in high demand.

But, I'm fine with my lower status. Just don't hate someone who figured out - they never had to pay for squat!
