The Voice

There's a referendum coming up in October to put an Aboriginal Voice to Parliament into the Australian Constitution. It will be like some sort of unelected Government add on.

The Yes campaigners refuse to give any details about what powers it will have, who will be in it, how it will work or how much it will cost. They are relying on emotional blackmail ( we owe the poor abused magical mystical boongsters compensation ) and playing the racist card ( if you don't vote Yes you're a Racist and a Deplorable ) to win the vote.

There are already Aboriginal people elected to and serving in the Senate and the House of Representatives federally and also in the State Governments but apparently they don't count. At the moment it looks like the referendum will lose by a fairly large margin but we will see.

Of course the Trannies have piped up. They want their own Voice to Parliament too !

A lot of the same things that have already been mentioned...traffic/construction, dying neighborhoods, police, etc.

Here are two things here in the Columbus/Central OH area that popped into my mind:

1) Columbus City Schools: This has been an ongoing issue for a long time. Corruption, failing school performances, major issues that the teachers have to face with students, etc. It's hard to discuss without delving into politics, but it's played a part (along with some of the previously mentioned issues) with the Central Ohio area and why the population in Central Ohio is so spread out anymore.

2) The Ohio State Football team. I am a big fan (used to be bigger, quite honestly) but there are people who literally "live and die" with the team. One of my sisters is an OSU alum and I have a lot of fond memories of the OSU campus and going to games over the years. However, there are a lot of things about OSU and the "behind the scenes" stuff about the University that make them so unlikable.

you guys love college sports. canadians don't pay attention to canadian college sports.

Because college football in the U.S. goes back much farther than the NFL, plus all the traditions, pomp & circumstance, etc. For a long time, there were two main sports in the U.S.: Major League Baseball (MLB) and college football. The NFL didn't really get "on the map" until 1959, with the championship game between the Colts and Giants.

I used to be a huge fan and big-time watcher of the NFL, NBA, and MLB. However, I don't really watch any of them anymore. I bailed on the NBA not long after Michael Jordan retired. I bailed on the NFL when the Patriots were caught cheating and nothing was done, so they kept winning Super Bowl after Super Bowl. I bailed on MLB because I didn't like the way they handled the COVID season (2020), plus I got tired of the Reds (my favorite team) gagging year after year. Unfortunately, I think NIL is eventually going to change college athletics here in the U.S., but I still prefer watching college sports to the pros.

Eeek! 😬

We had a couple of days this week that were in the upper 80s, but this weekend will feel more like fall with temps expected to be in the low 70s. And we're hoping for some significant rain, too. My area is is extreme drought right now, so we really need it.
