what's an ongoing issue where you live?

housing shortage.

reply

Corrupt/inept politicians.
Unchecked crime.
Decaying infrastructure.

Probably the same everywhere else.

reply

No shops in town centres.

My town, and many others up and down Britain are just full of charity shops, bargain shops, gambling places and takeaways.

My town doesn't even have a clothes shop 😒 (unless you want to include Poundland).

For anything useful you need to go to a city or a huge indoor shopping centre.

andy said the same thing. must a uk issue.

As moviechatterer said, “It might help if councils realised the high street aint the hot shit it used to be and cannot command outrageous business rates”

It’s almost impossible to make a profit, hence the empty units, which in turn attracts the homeless.

reply

why would a landlord want an empty unit?

reply

They wouldn’t, which is why many are trying to sell, but nobody’s buying.

reply

in toronto. they would be converted to residential condos.

reply

That’s starting to happen.

reply

Don’t forget coffee shops.

reply

And barbers .... but the town is still full of scruffs lol.

reply

A lot of Turkish barbers to give you that Premiership Footballer look.

Population! We went from 30,000 to 60,000 in 10 years in Saint Cloud, Florida. They’re turning over every blade of grass & downing every tree, but no infrastructure to support the growth. Parts of Florida are flooding that never flooded before. As it is Florida has turned into one huge parking lot. It appears everyone in the country is moving here. Disney was the worst thing to happen to Florida. We had a paradise and didn’t realize it.

reply

We were in Florida for a month last December. You’ll be disappointed to hear that we spent nearly all of it in various theme parks.

reply

For a month? And you didn’t stop by to see me? For shame! It would probably take that long to visit all of them. The only one I’ve been to is Disney. I wanted to take my very adult grandkids to Universal, but the cost nixed that want. I don’t see how the average families afford to visit the theme parks.

BTW, I’m a great-grandmother now. I want to time travel back to when I was 16. It seems everyone I know at this age are dropping like flies! There’s something to be said about “Live fast, die young, & have a beautiful corpse!”

It must be nice to have the funds you have. I’m having to sell some of my piddly stock to pay the IRS. The stock was to be used for long term care if needed. Dear Lord when it’s time take me quickly.🙏🏻

BTW, did you purchase any houses? So many Brits are purchasing houses for short term rentals & VRBOs
