You think I should apply to UPS for delivry driver?

Been disabled for like 14 years on disability, im homeless trying to get housing help and saving money at a shelter currently

Diagnosed with psychosis and schizo affective disorder but theres no doubt in my mind i have seasonal affective disorder and iron deficiency

I like liberating myself and learning but I would like to earn a decent wage, i do have a rebel side to me because of noam chomsky and musicians,

would have to relocate to where the positions are

Im 44 and not getting rich on disability

How are you with your meds beavis? You have to be disciplined with that, 100%, if you’re going to work regularly like that at a place like UPS

reply

If all you say is true about your mental state and I have no cause to distrust you, I’d rather you weren’t barreling down the road in a 20,000 pound truck. A lot of us have families and property and would prefer to remain alive.

Just stay at the shelter and eat the free food, we’ll pay for it, it’s fine.

reply

A UPS job would be good for him, maybe not driving, but if you stay with the company long enough, you can make alright money. I think we should be encouraging him for trying to better his life.

I also understand where you're coming from though.....Disability/welfare is highly abused and taken advantage of, however, schizophrenia is a severely debilitating and terrifying disease, so I think if anyone, OP is warranted in receiving it.

The Fed-Ex, UPS and PRIME drivers around my area drive solo. We track the deliveries on the phones and I meet them out by the garage to help carry, they are always solo without exception.

I agree that the mentally ill people should be afforded jobs but do you want a guy with mental problems driving a seven ton vehicle down the street where your kids ride their bikes and play Whiffle Ball?
I bet you don’t.

They do well as cashiers, baggers, stockboys…let’s not put them behind the wheel of a f’ing tank!

reply

Fuck you man, ill go join scientology in a heartbeat if i hear more from you

Hail xenu!!

I agree my health is more important,

but im in a desperate situation, this shelter doesnt have a proper night shift and dont have enough people to donate their time, I hate this place, there's people here living here fulltime and I dont like the guilt from them and the gasslightinf from the otherhalf of people i hate. Social worker cant make the process go anyquicker for the housing help.

reply

Hey no offense, but by your own multiple admissions you are quite off kilter. You don’t sound safe to drive a heavy truck.

And I suggest you don’t join Scientology or any other weird cult, you’ve got plenty of problems already.

reply

That didn’t at all go off at a tangent, lol.

reply

I meant driving isn't the only job they offer. A big part of UPS is warehouse work.

reply

Oh, good point. Yes, that sounds much safer.

Beavis did specify ‘driver’ though which is a bit sketchy for a guy with a few issues…

reply

Thsts because the drivers are known to be paid living wages, but I don't think tge guy is feeling real picky right now.

Say goodbye to your knees, hips, ankles...

you speak from experience ?

I had a buddy did routes for 20+ years, jumping out of those trucks did a number on him. I suppose if you get to the tractor trailers you can have the money and your health.

reply

Nah. You should just get back together with Butthead and make more content.

Signed, million man.

reply

I think he needs to stay away from Butthead. That's part of his problem.

reply

If he is the one with the Crack pipe, I'd say you're right.

Signed, million man.

reply

Go for it! It could be a life changer for you.

reply

Depends on your physical health and general mobility. If it's a physically demanding job, it may not be worth having if you do get it, so I'd look into something you definitely know is your speed health-wise, both mentally and physically. Best of luck!

reply

Well i am having saliva problems from a reconstructive surgery i had on my nose like 20 years ago and/ or from this abusive antipsychotic medication

Needa see an ear nose and throat

reply

Sorry to hear and hope doctors actually help you recover from this, sounds like a terrible hindrance.

reply

Will the job hurt your present health and disability coverage? If so, I'd say thread carefully.

Aren't there social workers or mental health organizations that can set you up with a job for a few extra dollars without jeopardizing your coverage?
