Have you ever met a celebrity before?
Was he or she nice or mean?
shareClaudio Fragasso and he was nicer than I could have ever dreamed.
shareYes, a few...rather than list the "usual ones" I mention, here are a couple of others:
1) Rawley Eastwick and Will McEnaney...relief pitchers for the Cincinnati Reds in the 70s ("The Big Red Machine"). Got their autographs at the local radio station during an off-season appearance. I was a kid (age 7...think this was 1976) and it freaked me out a bit that they had beards (The Reds back then had a "no facial hair" policy during the season, so I wasn't used to seeing them like that). They were both very nice.
2) About 20 years ago, I played in a golf league with a guy named Jimmie Lee Harris, who played football for Ohio State back in the late 60s/early 70s. He was a great guy...he was really good friends with Jack Tatum (who played college at Ohio State and in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders). He had some interesting stories about OSU football back then and Woody Hayes, the legendary OSU coach.
I met the members of Switchfoot. They were performing at an amusement park and were in the same line as the rollercoaster we were going on. I didn't talk to them directly, but they waved at us. A very fun experience.
I saw Joel from "MST3K" at a comicon convention, we didn't actually get to talk to him because of er, reasons (long story.)
I've interacted with some band members on instagram. One of them even follows me.
So yeah, none of them are really "celebrities," you could say, but they're really cool people in my book that are well known in their own communities.
I met many working as a bellhop at a hotel. I met Joan Rivers while moving 13 large trunks of hers when she changed rooms. She kept me entertained with 100 hernia jokes along the way.
