Sound of Freedom: A powerful and gut wrenching film about the child sex trade.

This is based on a true story. Did you know that there are more people in slavery now than when it was legal? And that millions of them are children? I did not, and this is horrific.

Child Sex Traffic is the fasting growing international criminal activity. It has passed the illegal arms trade, and will probably eventually pass the drug trade.

IMDb gives it an 8.7, I give it a 9.5. Please consider seeing this excellent film , and then telling your family and friends about it. As Steve Jobs said, "The most powerful man in the world is the storyteller."

this sounds very preachy.

reply

...but it's being heavily promoted on heavily Christian/conservative leaning media outlets and is based on the dubious embellished claims of a publicly noted right wing conspiracy theorist, so that must mean this piece of fiction is a fair and balanced portrayal of something that 100% definitely happened.

reply

Caviezel has jumped the shark as well.

reply

Caviezel went full nut job and that's unfortunate because his character in The Thin Red line is one of my favorites.

MY WIFE IS ALL ABOUT THIS FUCKING MOVIE...THAT MEANS IT'S EVIL HORSESHIT.

Is she a conspiracy type?

reply

Who would that be? It's based on the true life of Tim Ballard.

reply

The movie is based on exaggerated claims that have not held up well to investigative scrutiny.

The ultimate effect is uncomfortably murky. Millions of dollars are going into the organization, flying out of the pocketbooks of devoted supporters who ardently and sincerely want to rescue the world's most vulnerable and endangered children. But it's largely unclear what the organization is doing with that money, and where it is clear, it's not obvious that what it's doing is effective.

Both Ballard and Caviezel have been linked to conspiracy theories associated with QAnon: Ballard previously suggested support for a debunked viral theory that furniture retailer Wayfair was selling children, and Caviezel has reportedly spoken at multiple QAnon events where he promoted one of the most bizarre Q conspiracies...

a number of OUR’s claims about its work are dramatically overstated or without clear documentary evidence. People who have volunteered for OUR have raised concerns that it could actually have been creating demand for trafficking victims, by going to foreign countries on undercover “missions” that, at times, have seemed to consist of walking around bars and sex clubs asking for underage girls. The organization's support for law enforcement has at times been wildly exaggerated and involved OUR taking credit for agencies’ operations after making relatively trivial donations, and its much-touted aftercare program for survivors has at times involved things like placing women with unqualified providers and even fabricating a college graduation.
https://slate.com/human-interest/2021/05/sex-trafficking-raid-operation-underground-railroad.html
I was told two of the children had been trafficked for the first time that day. It didn’t seem to occur to anyone that OUR may have created a demand. After the sting, I asked people on the jump team where the 26 kids were taken. I was given only vague answers. Aftercare wasn’t really their focus, I was told, but they partnered with people who did it well.

I found out what really happened from a Foreign Policy report:

In 2014, after OUR’s first operation in the Dominican Republic, a local organization called the National Council for Children and Adolescents quickly discovered it didn’t have the capacity to handle the 26 girls rescued. They were released in less than a week.

Some testified, the article reported. The local organization lost track of others. All those kids in 2014 got from us was a soda and a swim—and Ballard came out ahead in the deal.

Those are just a few sources that offer testimony and evidence casting doubt on the subject's self-aggrandizing assertions. The movie is a work of fiction.

reply

Vice is a bankrupt tabloid rag.

Ballard totally disavowed QAnon conspiracies. Those are what we call lies. I wonder why?

reply

It's not, but you should see it, and decide for yourself.

🤨

reply

It's got an extremely low number of voters giving that 8.5 (now) rating. That's like saying Jim Knucklehead is a great hitter because his average is. 400, when he's only had 10 at-bat's. It's got a paltry 51 Metascore and only 39 critic reviews (they can smell a stinker a mile away).

reply

What do you have against bringing child traffickers to justice? Put a damper on your Friday nights???

reply

That is true, but it's also making a ton of money at the box office. It's currently made more money than The Flash. You should see it, and decide for yourself.

🤨

reply

yeah preachy and targeting the party i support not seeing it

reply

How does it target what party?

reply

What "party" does it target? Are you referring to your Saturday night parties, or some political party?

🤨

reply

Is this the basement of the pizza parlor thing again ? Because I already heard that one.

reply

Since it seems to have been made by conservative lunatic fringe types, betcha the sex traffickers are depicted as feminazi drag queens, who are shown waving Antifa flags, wearing star-of-David necklaces and Biden/Harris t-shirts.

reply

It's set in Columbia. What the fuck does that have to do with American politics? Did CNN tell you that?

reply

They are not lunatic fringe types. They are religious, which I know is hated by the Left. And the sex traffickers are not depicted as drag queens, but as normal, but evil people. And there is NO political slant. This is not about politics, it's about the horrible child sex traffic industry.

This apparently shows how the Left has brain washed you. You sound like you belong to the leftist lunatic fringe.

🤨

reply

Well was the whole world in on Ukraine illegal child modeling thing in 2003 or whatevr

I don't need a gut wrenching film, I need to reconize people abusing power and what led them to get to that point like harvey weinstein, Kevin spacey and, danny masterson and I guess Jonah hill now but he isn't in as much trouble

It's just ethics and morals and money hungry illegal modeling from the families.

reply

Those people are also bad, but the child sex traffickers are worse.

🤨

reply

Yeah, it's one of those hard life lessons you learn long after you're out of school. They create this illusion that slavery has been illegal everywhere since 1865, but honestly, making it illegal hasn't really stopped the slave trade (even in the US), and many countries do not honor that modern idea that all people are created equal and deserve human rights. All they did was either go underground, or operate in countries where anti-trafficking laws are not enforced or don't exist at all.

If, for example, black people want a cause to fight for, they can always go over to Ethiopia and Somalia, and fight against the modern slave trade going on right now. There are plenty of their African sisters and kids sold in slave markets all the time. But no. They're stupid and lazy and would rather go after their peaceful white neighbors and squeeze guilt money out of them instead of actually making a real difference.

WOW...I DON'T THROW THE WORD AROUND THAT MUCH...BUT DAMN...YOU ARE A FUCKING RACIST.🫤

reply

Yeah I haven't heard black people being called "stupid and lazy" for quite some time. I think your judgment is on the nose.

reply

Not racist if it's true. Which it is.

reply

🤣

reply

So, what's stopping YOU from going to Ethiopia and Somalia and fighting modern-day slavery?

Too stupid and lazy yourself?

reply

They also love to make it appear that the slave trade was only about white people enslaving blacks.

The Muslims would invade Europe frequently and take whites as slaves. Every country or culture that ever existed has had slavery at some point.

reply

Oh yeah. The finest example of this skewed POV is seen nowhere clearer than Keeliar. You try telling them about the realities that history tells us about slavery, and they'll just go on and on about evil whitey enslaving poor, noble, innocent little blackie. They apparently refuse to admit that slavery has been practiced by many different ethnic groups around the world (including black Africans, both in the past and the present), and that demonizing whites only over it not only reveals anti-white prejudice but it's also revealing a willful blindness towards the sins of others that might still need to be held into account in today's human trafficking. Evidently slavery where other ethnicities were involved, or white people were the victims doesn't count in the minds of some.

reply

I finally blocked Keelai the other week. She launched into a typical but totally unrelated “you’re a nazi” attack on me. It didn’t even make sense but then it never does. I tolerated her for quite a while but that was it.

These people see things in a very white is evil, black is angelic manner.

That film the Woman King or whatever it was I read about the tribe. They would make intended slaves walk around and around in circles with the intention of making them forget who they were so their souls couldn’t come back and seek revenge on the tribe for selling them!

Tell me that ain’t some NAZI shit right there!

reply

That entire movie is a big fat farce. Not to mention it was made by TWO WHITE, BLOND WOMEN! They also failed to mention that all-female army battalion from the tribe got their asses whooped by white, French men with bayonets in the 18th century.

reply

Back in the 90’s I saw a woman on tv talking about this Wonder Woman tribe and how supposedly they charged into battle topless against the British and the Brit soldiers broke and ran away because of boobies.

I mean really? These people believe their own hype way too much.

They are boring. I would actually pay to see a film where female “warriors” get massacred by male soldiers though.

I looked up the battle you mentioned they really did get wiped out. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Franco-Dahomean_War#:~:text=The%20Second%20Franco%2DDahomean%20War,territory%20of%20French%20West%20Africa.

reply

No doubt the 90s woman was talking about Boudicca and her Iceni tribe in ancient England (which the Romans called "Albion" back then, or "The White Land"). Either that or it was a similar tribe. There are many myths the Romans started, claiming the Celts ran into battle naked, wearing nothing more than their weapons, woad paint, and possibly a cloak. Realistically, it doesn't make sense, but then again, the Romans were known to exaggerate.

What's nice to hear is, the smarter parts of the black community have called out the "Woman King" film for its lies and lame-ass story-telling.

reply

The Romans called anyone they couldn’t beat barbaric or barbarians. It makes sense they would make the enemies into some kind mythic boogeyman. Ironically when the barbarians took over Rome they stopped the cruel gladiator games. Go figure.

I think the woman was making shit up as I am sure she meant African women against British red coats. Unless the Dahomey also fought the Brits or she just got it all mixed up and meant to say French. But reading about the first battle the French kicked Dahomey arse there as well. So much for amazing warriors.

I read that black celebs were buying up tickets for the movie to try and make it look more successful. It still flopped. Some stories you have to tell honestly or you should just not bother trying at all.

The term originates from the Greek: βάρβαρος (barbaros pl. βάρβαροι barbaroi). In Ancient Greece, the Greeks used the term not only towards those who did not speak Greek and follow classical Greek customs,[2] but also towards Greek populations on the fringe of the Greek world with peculiar dialects.[3] In Ancient Rome, the Romans adapted and used the term towards tribal non-Romans

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbarian

In 393, Theodosius I (r. 379–395) adopted Nicene Christianity as the state religion of the Roman Empire and banned pagan festivals.[55] The ludi continued, very gradually shorn of their stubbornly pagan elements. Honorius (r. 395–423) legally ended gladiator games in 399, and again in 404, at least in the Western Roman Empire. According to Theodoret, the ban was in consequence of Saint Telemachus' martyrdom by spectators at a gladiator munus.[56] Valentinian III (r. 425–455) repeated the ban in 438, perhaps effectively, though venationes continued beyond 536. (Venationes combat/hunt man versus beasts)

In 476, the Germanic barbarian king Odoacer deposed the last emperor of the Western Roman Empire in Italy, Romulus Augustulus, and the Senate sent the imperial insignia to the Eastern Roman Emperor Zeno.

Yes, unfortunately, you are correct.
