What Do you Do When There's An Insect In Your Bathtub/Shower?

I HATE killing ANY living organism (I'm not a fruitarian, or a Jainist, so don't ask me a silly question like "But what about plants/vegetables?"), and so, if I see, say a centipede, in my bath tub, I HAVE to remove it, often using some tissue paper. But it's often an arduous process. Being a good ethical vegan can be time-consuming at times.

What do you do?

reply

Kill on sight.

reply

down the toilet.

reply

If that were even an option, it still wouldn't help my dilemma, since I'd still need to find some way of transporting the insect from the bath *to the* toilet...

If I'm able to actually move the insect, I'd rather gently move them to somewhere they're less likely to be automatically killed.

reply

i flush them right into lake ontario

reply

That’s a good plan. Why take chances, right?

reply

There was a praying mantis in my shower a few weeks ago. I carefully saved it and put it outside in the garden. A centipede, I would save. They don't hurt people.

But a cockroach or a fly? They're dead on sight. Also moths in the house because they eat holes in clothes - kill kill kill.

reply

I understand. I frickin hate flies. But I still try to avoid killing them.

reply

Flies land on dog shit and dead animals and then land on your food and vomit - that's how they eat - kill kill kill.

What we're dealing with here is a Mahatma Gandhi wannabe coupled with having a Napoleon Complex.

reply

lol He's kewl.

reply

I kind of like that description. Thanks. 👍🏼

Although, isn't 'Napoleon Complex' generally applied to short men? I'm about 6 foot, so not particularly short. Above average, in fact.

reply

So, you like being seen as a "wannabe" as opposed to a genuine person? Keep revealing yourself, troll.

reply

I try to avoid eating when there are flies around.

reply

I drown it.

reply

I pretend like I’m Godzilla, while I pulverize it in slow motion. Then a dam will burst and wash its body down the river.

Always keep a hard plastic cup in my bathroom for my toothbrush or hairbrush, so I just take whatever's in it out, scoop up the numbskull that can't get out of the bath and quickly carry it into backyard and put it outside. If you use a tall cup and just swish the cup around slightly, it keeps whatever it is at the bottom until you're outside. You can use anything in the bathroom that helps you to get it into the cup if it doesn't scoop efficiently, like the end of a hairbrush for example, but sometimes an envelop works best. I don't find it that hard, it's just a little nerve wracking when it's a massive spider - always afraid of damaging its legs.

reply

Good advice. Makes sense. 👍🏼

Scream like a little girl.

Signed, million man.

reply

I'm not scared of insects.

The only animals that scare me are pirahnas.
