What’s a really good horror movie?

Any ideas?

I’m not looking for one where a monster jumps into view and surprises everyone. And I’m not looking for blood and gore.

What I want is something that makes me feel like I’m home alone at night watching the original “Unsolved Mysteries” series, if that makes sense…

Crossroads, From Justin to Kelly. The classics.

Barbarian was the best new horror I've seen in a while.

I also quite liked Hereditary. That one builds slowly, so it takes some patience. I thought it was really effective how it became increasingly unsettling until finally total mayhem erupts.

I really liked The Ring (2002) although to me it was more of a mystery story than horror. I never saw the original Japanese film so I don’t know how it compares. I also liked Dark Water (2005).
