Don't know if anyone else here was active over there as well but I've been pretty regular on both since the IMDb boards shut down.
Looks like that's it gone! Weirdly, just checked earlier today and saw it had been going since 2017 as well...
I was a member there. Not sure why it's been deleted. So, if someone could give info as to what the hell is going on, that'd be great.
shareHi. I actually just signed up here as an alternative, having posted on imdb for years, then on imdb2. Just getting used to how to use Movie Chat which I read on google is one of the busier film boards.

MC is better in some ways - certainly for actual movies (!), e.g. the individual film boards is much like the IMDb boards were.
However, the community feel on imdb2 was nice, especially on the Sports board. Otherwise, only ever really posted on the Star Wars board there. But it's a loss for it to be jettisoned without even getting a chance to say bye...

That's pretty surprising.
I would have guessed MC was larger but not by such a margin. Even by just comparing the two places I visited most - the trending page on here and the Sports board there, the number of new posts being made wasn't particularly higher here.

Don't know. If I remember right, the old imdb gave prior warning of what was going to happen. I was writing a post on a new horror movie shot in Ohio I'd researched all week as I care about horror cinema - a great movie too - when the site just disappeared; wish I'd saved my writing now as I always put my all in. Too tired to rewrite.
shareThe old IMDb at least gave us a few weeks notice. This is too sudden. A whole community just wiped out like at a snap of a finger. Not cool. All your great posts at Classic Film Board are gone.
shareYou know how various people posted interesting stuff weekly that clearly took a lot of effort. That passion, a love of the arts, it built a community and stimulated further interest, further leaning. But if it's gone, it's gone.

shareEasy for you to say. Other people that were on that site formed a community outside the politics section like on the sports page or film boards or general discussion;hell, even the politics section was a weirdly tightknit group despite its dysfunctionality.
shareThere's some good people there, I assume (in some cases) currently left floundering. The knowledge on Classic Film for example was extraordinary, where they'd play games weekly. The Food & Drink board was the essence of community. I hope they're all doing fine, and if the boards are gone, I wish them all the best going forward.
