Wow that sucks! Had been a member since day one and will miss a lot of people from there. I wonder why the admin would just delete without even a warning. :(
Yeah, I posted on IMDB V2 quite a bit under the same username. It had to be the flamewars on the politics board that was the final straw that broke the camel's back. People could get very nasty on that board.
The flames seem to be picking up here too. Calm down people!

Shame if that's true - especially for me, since the entire time I was there I never posted on the politics board once!
Tbh, I've never, ever seen the point of discussing politics online. I mean, what's the point? Has anyone, ever gone "Well you know what, you're right. I think I've seen the error in my ways and will be voting for your party from now on. Thanks for the enlightenment!"?! You may as well start howling at the moon...

I think the politics people are mostly made up of debate-club wanna-be's. They just like out-talking others. And yes, it does seem like a waste to do it online. If you like arguing that much, you should become a lawyer or politician or something....
You can't really claim victory when you won a debate online. For the most part, all you did was just that, you debated someone online and that's it.
Sure, it can be entertaining but not very rewarding when you think about it.
It's funny how some people seemed to just go to one place when IMDb shut down and stuck with it.
I signed up here, imdb2 and themoviedb (which in some ways was the best step forward but it never seemed to get many of the old IMDb posters).
This site was always better in having the individual film boards and porting over some of the old discussions (which is nice if you've just watched an old classic film). But imdb2 was nice in having the ability in embed images / GIFs / YouTube, etc.
Nice to see a few familiar names on this place. Damn shame what happened to the site though just out of nowhere after six years. Maybe we'll get an IMDB 3.0 site soon.
The thing that really sucks about it is that a couple of years ago I had gotten into the habit of posting in the tread about what your last dream was about. I had been posting in that thread for quite sometime now. Unfortunately for the last year or two I haven't written backups to what I had posted in the forum. When I first began writing down my dreams I would write them in a spiral notebook. At first it was just on occasion when I had a totally awesome dream I wanted to remember, then I began to write down dreams more often and eventually whenever I recalled a dream I would try to write it down, no matter what it was. I wrote down what if anything I could recall. Then when I noticed that imdb2 had a post about dreams, I began to write them there and then at my leisure write them in the notebook. Well it has been a year or two since I've written a dream in the notebook, but wrote them on the forum post. A vast number of dreams, some quick and short could only remember a tiny bit like when you remember just what one small movie scene looked like, but not any dialog or who acted in it, to dreams so detailed I could only describe a tiny bit of it.
It became part of my daily routine. At my first opportunity I would got to imdb2 and check that thread, it became the only thread I would read or post to there.
Really, even if an admin destroys his forum, proboards should offer their users (after all, we signed up to a proboards account first and foremost when accessing forums on their site) an archive of their posts should a particular forum be shut down.
I never really used it like that much - although on the sports board I had got into posting any new music I'd heard on an OT board there. I guess I thought I could always look back through that to remind myself of any tunes I'd liked.
But I think another loss is some of the threads that must have been around there when covid struck. There was definitely one on the sports board. Anyway there were dozens of pages on that thread and historically it was pretty interesting to read back through and see how people's fears, then opinions changed as the thing went on. Anyway, all consigned to dust now!
This now marks the second time I've had the rug pulled out from under me on boards like this......first with IMDb, and now IMDb2.....
Hmmm........maybe I just need to learn to stay away from those 4 particular letters.....
On the other hand, maybe it's kind of like 'practice' for dying.......you know.....one day it's here, and the next day it's not.........and as much as we may hate it, there's not a DAMN thing any of us can do about it.....
Anyhooo......anybody know how to add photos, GIFs, videos, or even a simple emoji to comments in this here dump ??
I signed up here at Movie Chat when imdbv.2 disappeared last night. There's also some people now posting at imdb1 on Pro Boards, as mentioned in this thread by darkpast, where you can post pictures and youtube videos. It's the same format we're used to, I'm not sure yet if you can do this on Movie Chat.
HA !! This was the first place I turned up when IMDb shut down the comment boards back on February 20th, 2017 (somehow seems like A LOT more than just 6 years ago!), before eventually stumbling on IMDb2.
Nice to know the class of this place has now been lifted with your arrival !!
We’re actually staying in Reeuvijk, so I’m guessing we’ll visit Rotterdam, Gouda and The Hague. Any suggestions (our daughter is nearly 9) for some fun family stuff?
-My absolutely favourite thing in The Hague is The Girl with the Pearl Earring by Vermeer that hangs in the Mauritshuis museum. The Hague is also our seat of government, so there are also lot of important buildings, like parliament (Binnenhof), the royal palace (Noordeinde) and the Peace Palace (with the International Court of Justice).
