Favorite hotel you've stayed at?

Some of the Las Vegas resorts come to my mind: The Flamingo, Aria, The Cosmopolitan, The Venetian, The Palazzo, etc. I'd say my favorite of those is Aria.

I can't remember the name of it but it was this old hotel in Hot Springs Ark. where, get this, you still needed an actual and real metal key to open the door!
It is a grand old place.

I haven't stayed at many, but the Hyatt Regency was pretty nice.

A couple a dollar a night Hostel in Ukraine

A traditional Japanese inn in Nagano was truly magical, especially when a blizzard trapped us there for a day.

Thought of another one. About 5 years ago I went to Kiawah Island, SC., for professional reasons, and stayed at the "Parkside Villas" near the conference I was attending. Frankly, I found the island as a whole kind of creepy, but my hotel room was the most comfortable and perfectly designed I've ever experienced! It was basically a very nice one-bedroom apartment, well decorated and comfortable, with a kitchen, a living room, and a balcony with a table that overlooked a pond (with an alligator), and which was carefully designed to be private and not overlook any of the other balconies. The hotel was a series of buildings with space in between, so the apartment room felt spacious and private.

And of course, having a private view of an alligator pond made me feel like a Bond Villain! I definitely recommend the hotel, to anyone that likes places like Kiawah Island.

My wife and I are big Disney fans and have visited Florida several times.
Of all the places that we have stayed over the years in our travels, for us, nothing compared to Disney's Boardwalk resort.

Killington Grand Resort. My favorite ski mountain.

And a fun alpine slide in the summer. Got deep roots in VT. Never needed a hotel there except for one night in Burlington, the one area I don’t have family.

reply

Vermont is a cool little State, but unfortunately, I've never been in the summer. I have however been on the Alpine slide at Attitash in New Hampshire. Those things are dangerously fun!

reply

Emphasis on dangerous, heh. Remember burning the heck out of the sides of my knees back in the day.

Wonderful state. Among the perks are having bottomless supplies of (real) maple syrup and apple cider.

reply

Not my favorite since I’m not really into fancy stuff, but the most luxurious hotel I ever stayed at was the Ritz Carlton in Amelia Island, FL for a work conference.

reply

The Ritz-Carlton's in my state are fantastically expensive! I hope you got a special rate...

reply

I worked for a federal agency at the time (FDIC) and the higher ups decided to hold the conference for the Atlanta region there. It was really nice but I thought it was wasteful.

My tax dollars at work!
