Is it best to say "No comment" if asked reason why giving your notice to quit?


Why bother giving the true reason especially if it's a toxic work environment? It's not like it will change anything anyway. So, why bother?

Also, employers can retaliate if you give a negative reason.

I'd say "No comment". Just keep it neutral. Short and sweet. Neither positive or negative.

You don't need to give a reason. You are simply parting ways. It's none of their business.

You never want to burn bridges, even if you are leaving a bad situation. You never know who you will need to work with in the future. I just had somebody that I once fired refer me to a client!

In my experience, If it's really toxic, they aren't going to change in account of what you say, anyway.

I would just say that an opportunity came up that you couldn't pass up and leave it at that.
