Travelers (2016)
It was a show about time travelers coming from a dystopian future trying to change certain moments in the past in order to avoid that future.
What I really liked about it is the method of time travel they used. They didn't use a machine like in Back to the Future that transports you physically into the past, instead they uploaded their consciousness to a computer and sent themselves as information into actual people in the past who were about to die. They injected their consciousnesses at the moment of death. So basically they took over the body of a person that would have died. They chose people who had jobs and positions that would be useful for them to accomplish their missions.
What I really liked about the time travel, aside from the method, was the explanation. The explanation for time travel was that they built an advanced AI that figured out time travel for them, and created the tech that made it work. This AI made it possible for them to upload their minds to a computer and through some quantum magic it was able to send that digital consciousness into the past.
They also had a cool character that I liked. He was a traveler that was a 90 year old man sent into a teenagers body. So you had this really thoughtful, profoundly wise, extremely knowledgeable 17 year old. Really cool stuff. Highly recommend it.
Max Headroom!
shareHave Gun, Will Travel, called “the thinking person’s Western.” Paladin (knight) played by Richard Boone made his role epic. If any cowboy Western were going to work today, this would be it.
Max Headroom. The big problem would be in casting Max. Who’s the modern Matt Frewer? I’ve been saying for years that today’s in-home IOT is Perfect for a Max revival, as the IOT morphs into Skynet.
YES! For Sledge Hammer. But who would play Sledge?
Sledge Hammer definitely!
