Yep. It's happened to me. I knew the minute when I started working there , the minute she was complaining about a fellow coworker and how she was going on about this coworker all the time, I knew right away that SHE was the problem. No one else complained about this coworker but HER. Eventually, she complained about everyone in office including me and finally she was fired. The whole office cheered when she was gone. Good riddance.....
shareI have a chronic complainer at work, it's really her idea of enjoyable conversation. Mind you there are issues at work than need discussion, but I don't really want to discuss them for hours or on end or with someone who enjoys complaining, because when she's done complaining about work she starts complaining about her family.
I treat her with politeness and don't engage too much, I don't know what else to do.
We had a lot of people leave last year and we are still very understaffed. All of the new people who came in just started to complain from day one. One of them complains about everything and everyone, he will carry on for the entire shift. No one gets fired here though, eventually they leave but they bring down everyone else first. It's better to work understaffed.

shareNo but we have been doing just that for over 12 months now. On the bright side it also makes people who are already good even better. It can be just as taxing to have a full crew where some people just drag everyone else down in various ways.
shareIt really depends. Ability to handle this kind of stressful situation does vary considerably among people. Understaffing does put a great deal of stress on people, and some people are more equipped to handle this kind of stressful situation than others.
