Do you drink alcohol?
Rarely. Like 1x every 1-2 years.
shareNot for 15 years!
But then I went through a lifetime supply early, so I guess I average out to a social drinker.
18 years. Abstinence does not make the heart grow fonder.
shareBut it makes the liver less fractious!
shareI won't lie - life was a lot more exciting during my drinking days.
shareI won't lie either, sometimes it'd be nice to be able to feel the warm glowing feeling of the first drink, but the warm glow invariably spiraled into something unpleasant so the nice warm feeling wasn't worth the trouble. I don't miss being an embarrassing mess.
Truth is, the only think I really miss about my drinking days is good wine, there's no substitute among the non-alcoholic drinks and mocktails. I was never a wine snob but there's really no substitute for the complex flavors of really good wine among the alcohol-free beverages, and nothing else complements good food so beautifully. So that's really the only temptation, risking a glass of something marvelously appropriate when there's something particularly nice for dinner, but well. Better not to go there.
All true. The game isn't worth the candle, my dad used to say. Or, my own, the experiment has been run, the results are in. :)
shareIndustrial amounts.
shareAlmost never.
shareI could drink Marion Ravenwood under the table😉
shareYes, I do from time to time. Radler, Landbier or red wine
shareNever have never will
shareCare to mention why you chose never to attempt to indulge ?
sharesure. PERSONALLY, i never cared for the taste. in the impressionable years of highschool, I was a leader not follower, so peer pressure to do as others did was not there. also, I noted all the bad things it caused from drunk driving, to death, and choose lesser of self harm.
I've NEVER NEVER EVER discouraged others from partaking, and don't push MY position to anyone. I just hope they do it carefully.
not into other chemicals either: drugs, pot etc, but I eat too much pasta :D
You sound like a person wise from any early age. I also expect you had solid parenting.
shareMy siblings and I have recently talked about that. Comparing to friends and the world, it seems we did get some pretty decent parenting... though at the time, I'm sure we didn't think so. hahahahaha
they drink, though, not to excess. its kind of a personal taste interest thing.
parents didn't drink, far as I knew, and probably discouraged it a little, knowing they'd have no input after we became adults.
I got used to the taste of beer as a boy in Germany. They were what are now called NABs (Non Alcohol Brews) here in the U.S. and available to kids as much as soda is. I used to run to the corner news stand at that age and buy some real beer for my dad, no questions asked.
