Do you read the Bible?
I've never read it.
shareI recommend Proverbs to everyone.
(also some decent combat action in 1 & 2 Samuel and Numbers)
Hell no!
I've got a copy lying around somewhere, I had to get it for my "History of Western Civilization" course in college, back in the day. I ought to throw it out, anyone who's looked at the real world knows it's not a good influence on people.
I've never been really religious in my life. I've been to church more often when I was a kid but I'm not devout. However, I do pray when I'm down and hopeless.
shareI wasn't brought up to any religion, and don't believe in any deity now, but I still find myself "praying" on occasion. It seems to be something built into the human psyche, the idea that if we wish hard enough for something, or keep begging long enough, we'll get our way. Maybe that's something left over from childhood, maybe that's something built into our very neurons, who knows.
So I don't knock prayer, I just knock the idea that prayer is a miraculously effective way to bend the universe to your will, and the idea that praying makes you a better person. Lots of dreadful human beings pray.
Brett?
shareYes...long-time churchgoer and one year many years ago, committed to one of those "read The Bible in one year" programs. Certain parts are more interesting to read than others. π
I think Ecclesiastes is the most underrated great book in The Bible.
No.

it was only printed to make money for goldsmith Johannes Gutenberg so he could get enough money to keep in business, it was easier because it was mainly words
shareHeavens no.
Years ago, read the gospels, acts, romans, genesis and so forth. The psalms are nice.
No point reading it all, especially not those dreary prophets.
