Do you read the Bible?

I've never read it.

reply

I READ IT...FRONT TO BACK...ONCE...THE END. NOEMOJI

reply

Sometimes yes. I have read the entire Bible at least a few times (not all in one sitting though).

reply

I've read quite a bit of it but have skipped around very spontaneously and have some favorite passages and scriptures. I think even unbelievers should be able to appreciate its beautiful prose and wisdom.

reply

I've made a few attempts, but never get very far. My eyes start to glaze over. I do think part of being an educated person is to know some things about the Bible, which is why I make the attempts. So I bought some lectures (I did not pay the high price currently shown) and I still didn't get very far. I'm due for another attempt.

Holy! Close to $1000?! Who would pay for that?

reply

I dunno. I paid $200 three years ago (which is still a lot). It is 241 hours, a verse-by-verse, sometimes line-by-line analysis. It's too much for someone like me. I would like a more abridged edition.

reply

Same. I attempted it years ago and gave up a few pages in.

Just be a decent person. Treat others' the way you want to be treated. That's all I need to take from any religion.

reply

No poverty, homelessness, crime, war nor starvation if everyone did.

reply

Parts of it, never the whole thing. I own a copy of the revised KJV and used it as a kind of reference book. Although now of course I just use the internet if I want to look for something about the Bible.

reply

Only once, a long time ago.
There are some good lessons in it even if you don’t believe all of it.

reply

no.

reply

I read a condensed version for kids long time ago but not an official one like the "King James version" or whatever.
