Which state is better to live: New York or California?

NY. I like the seasons.

I also strongly prefer urban life. Something to keep in mind with CA, the state is basically a desert. Large cities grew around ports in LA /SF. But they're 400 miles apart. In contrast, NYC is only 200 miles from DC & Boston with significant population centers in between.

I have no opinion since I've never lived in either one, although I have visited both. I guess I'd have to say New York because I just couldn't deal with the earthquake threat in California. I can deal with winter, but I'd rather live in outstate New York than New York City. My mother lived in Horseheads, NY for a time when she was in high school. Not that has any bearing on my choice.

I’ve seen more of California than I have of New York and I liked a lot of places there, so I’ll vote California.

As a non USAian , I'd take Cali .
Better weather
better geography
Better nature - mountains for skiing , giant redwoods , and a bit of desert too - and a nice coast

California - Where dogs step in human shit.
