Is U2 the only classic rock band where no one died prematurely?

They might be imo.

reply

Never mind there’s also
The Styx
Kiss
Foreigner

reply

Well I don't wish death on anyone, but I'd rather some of the actual good musician who had died hadn't and the members of KISS had instead. Life for a life.

reply

Like who? Jim Morrison, John Lennon, Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson, John Bonham, Keith Moon Warren Zevon?

reply

All of those sound good. Not much of a Jackson fan, but he was talented. Throw Hendrix and Randy Rhoads in the saved group too.

reply

Styx- the original drummer died fairly young
Kiss- all the originals are still alive, but 2 of the replacements (Eric Carr, & Mark St. John) were pretty young when they died too.

reply

All the original members of Black Sabbath are still alive. Also, no one in Cream died young.

reply

Some other members of Black Sabbath have passed though.

reply

ZZ Top
Aerosmith

reply

Mötley Crüe although Nikki Sixx died twice.

Guns n Roses not through lack of trying though.

U2 would be one of the few bands to maintain the same line up.

reply

Fleetwood Mac? Aren't they all alive, and still quarreling?

reply

Danny Kirwan died a few years ago. He had been homeless since the 80s, maybe earlier, sleeping in hostels in England last time I read about him before he passed. The Green/Kirwan was my favorite line-up of the group.

reply

Ok, so what's premature then? He still made it to 68 and died of natural causes. I'm not counting that as prematurely. Even if it would have been unnatural death (Keith Emerson, suicide, 71) I'd not consider it premature. Sad Barrett was only 60. Neil Peart was 67.

reply

I generally think of dying before 70 as premature, but for musicians I'd say it's before 60.

reply

I’ve seen a few bands die on stage before.

reply

I think the drummer for Spinal Tap spontaneously combusted on stage.

reply

imploded

reply

What about the one that choked on vomit......that may not have been his own?

reply

Love Spinal Tap!

reply

We're you there when Keith Moon took horse tranquilizers?

reply

Unfortunately, I was never fortunate enough to witness The Loon.

reply

Eagles
Steely Dan
CCR

reply

Tom Forgerty died at 48, that’s premature imo.

reply

Well, he died of AIDS from a bad transfusion almost 20 years after leaving the band, so...

Not exactly face down in his own vomit.

reply

CSNY

reply

David Crosby should've died a million times by now!!

reply

i know. he made it to 80 which says a lot about modern medicine.

reply

Let's not bring CSI: New York into this.
