Scary movies for October

My wife and I have a horror movie marathon during the month of October. We watch one movie a night every night until Halloween.

We of course watch the "standards"
The Exorcist
Rosemary's Baby
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Halloween (1 thru 3) the rest stunk in my opinion.
Friday the 13th (original)

Aside from the few slashers listed, we mostly enjoy the more atmospheric horror movies. No interest in newer slashers. I got tired of them living through the 80s when it seemed that a different slasher movie was coming out every week 😃

I'd like some suggestions on some scary movies that we may not have seen.

Halloween (1 thru 3) the rest stunk in my opinion.

Amen. And anything after 3 is illegitimate and non-canon in my book.

Did you have any sympathy for Quaid? I think I'm probably the only one that did. I feel if he hadn't have flushed his pills down the drain that none of it would've happened.

I did actually. It wasn't just straight up that he was an evil villain.

He certainly was the antagonist of the story, but I didn't think that he was just an straight up "evil villain".

Don't Look Now is all atmosphere and a sense of things being "not quite right," until the brutal finale. Really an exceptional movie among 70s horror treats, along with The Exorcist. I remember Salem's Lot playing at drive-ins (yeah, I'm old) but I can't remember much about it. I like horror but don't really like vampire films--too much schtick.

I used to have nightmares about the chauffeur when I was a kid.

I have a poster of Killer Fish (1977) in my computer room, mostly because it has Karen Black in a wet suit. 😀

Ha! It really is the perfect exploitation film with a fabulous cast.

Lee Majors, Karen Black, Margaux Hemingway, Marisa Berenson, James Franciscus and Gary Collins… You can’t go wrong.

Defiantly a better story. I haven’t seen it in a while but I remember that mean camp guy trying to get that little girl to swim. She’s lucky she didn’t get in the water. 😀

Have you seen The Hunting Party (1971)? Gene Hackman shoots his wife Candice Bergen in her hoo-ha. 😯😯🤭🤭

It's not a horror, it's a western starring Oliver Reed with Candice Bergen and Gene Hackman. A good watch if you're a fan of Westerns and especially if you're of fan of Oliver. 👍👍

Its so weird how there are two exorcist prequels, a year apart, both with Stellan Skarsgard.

Happened to rewatch this yesterday https://moviechat.org/tt0091064/The-Fly, possibly one of the best horror flicks from the 80s, alongside The Thing (1982). Glib and rambling Jeff Goldblum was well cast in it with plenty of darkly humored dialogue.
