Why aren't front doors built to withstand police ramming bars?

If the whole door locked into a concrete outter rim, like a safe door, they're not getting in.

Or even a bar placed in front of the door.

Yet nobody actually secures their front door.

A good shoulder barge will break a front door.

It's crazy.

Is this a niche business opportunity? Actual front doors that lock and are secure?

reply

I rent a nice apartment.

Tell me why my landlords would want to build a door that would withstand the police.

reply

So let's say you've kidnapper a kid and they're in your house, you think cops shouldn't be able to ram the door in?

reply

Based off his previous postings, he thinks he should be able to rape children in the comfort of his own home and deny them abortions.

reply

And talk to birds.

reply

Let’s say you’re not a kidnapper. Because… you’re probably not a kidnapper. And let’s say that I’m not a kidnapper. Because… wait let me check… yup, I’m not a kidnapper.
Now, should the two of us, in our own individual abodes, have the right and the choice to build ourselves a solid bunker-strength door as our front door?
I say yes.

Having a choice doesn't mean a sane person would choose to do it.

Most people don't even have a fence door. Even when they do, they're usually not locked. Even when they do, they're so low you can just jump over. Even when we have the choice to build a thick wall around our lawns, nobody actually does it.

Except, criminals maybe. Or kings / presidents.

reply

I DON'T KNOW YOU...BUT THAT OTHER GUY IS ALMOST UNDOUBTEDLY A KIDNAPPER.

reply

Yeah, Ticketsplease is a weird dude.

reply

I didn't say you shouldn't be allowed to have a door like that.

reply

You do have the right. What's the problem here?

reply

For me? No problem.

Sure. It's also another update for your FBI file.

reply

If you did that and the police were determined to get in, they'd have to blow up your door. You see a few instances of this on YouTube. Why do you want to live in a fortress ... what are you so scared of or why are you so scared of the police?

reply

Peace of mind

reply

Probably because home invaders don’t use police rams.

You really are an idiot. How’s that acting career going?

reply

THIS TOPIC BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE IDLE MUSINGS OF TICKETSPLEASE DURING HIS RECENT INCARCERATION.

reply

Then police would just get explosive charges or big oxygen lances like in the movie Thief

The police in America are never gonna not feel entitled to enter people's homes

reply

Or they just enter through a window.

reply

I've always thought it has to do with fires - with being able to break a door down easily and quickly in the event of a house fire. The time it would take to ram down a burning house could mean the death of the residents and the fire-people.

reply

I was just reading the comments to see if anyone mentioned this. Police aren't the only first responders to use them, and I would like the fire department have as many ways to rescue me, and my family, if the need ever arose.

reply

Yeah, sad to say, but houses aren't built to withstand much and apartments are even worse - some are built with highly flammable materials - so yeah I want to be able to be rescued as easily and safely as possible also.
