The Last Airbender!!!!

I have to add though that I never saw the original animated series so I cannot make negative comments about the movie being different from it like most people do. But I definitely like the movie and I've seen it several times and I own it. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

The same. The movie has been named worst movie ever made. I fail to understand because truly badly made movies exist. Ask people who hate the movie and they can't provide any real reasons. Everybody has unfounded hate for all M. Night movies.

Yeah people use the term "Worst movie ever made" way too nonchalantly. I don't take that term lightly. I don't really say it because who's to really know what the worst movie ever made was?? But, I can say with absolute certainty that this is the worst movie I personally have ever seen. Hands down, bar none:

My mom took me to see it in its original run. I was 8 years old. I thought it was a colossal bore. I never watched it as an adult so can't comment about it other than that, however its 34 Metascore/27% Tomatometer would seem to validate my long ago opinion.

I saw it in the theater twice and on TV once. It's not a movie that aged well especially with younger people, but it appeared to be popular at the time of release.

I WAS IN THE AGE BRACKET FOR THE MURPHY DOLITTLES MYSELF...I OWN THEM NOW ON DVD A WELL AS THE LATER SEQUELS WITH VARIOUS DOLITTLE DAUGHTERS IN THE LEAD...THEY WERE WEAK FAMILY FARE THEN AND THEY STILL ARE...NEVER GOT AROUND TO WATCHING THEM WITH MY DAUGHTER...BUT SHE HAS SEEN THE ORIGINAL.

To be fair, RDJ version is equally weak... so not much of an improvement. However, Eddie Murphy was beloved. RDJ is not as much. People love Tony Stark, not RDJ.

I’d say people love RDJ as Tony Stark. I’m not sure the character would work with a new actor and definitely RDJ is not that successful without Tony Stark.
Im curious to prove me wrong or right. I want Marvel to soon recast that role to see if it would work with a new actor in it.

There are some cases where I feel like an actor is married with a character and viceversa.

Meaning an actor Is only beloved in one character but also that character is only successful when a certain actor portrays him

Other examples

Chris Hemsworth as Thor.
Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter
Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen.

Pattinson is kinda accepted as Batman now. I think it worked because there were so many actors playing Batman already so there is no definitive THE Batman actor. The same can be said to James Bond.

Tony Stark, on the other hand, has a definitive actor, which was RDJ. Even if Disney would recast Iron Man in MCU, I believe it will be a different character and not Tony Stark.

Or maybe a Tony Stark from a different multiverse could work, idk. Multiverse version of Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch were played by the same actors, but multiverse Spider-Man and Fantastic Four were not.

How yes RDJ doesn’t do well on the box office without IronMan but the character also wouldn’t work with a new actor in it.

Now maybe we think that way that another actor wouldn’t work because RDJ so far is the only Tony Stark/IronMan but maybe we latter see that character being recast and it does work.

There was a time people believed Sean Connery was irreplaceable as James Bond. Coby Broccoli proved people wrong with Roger Moore.

Good point. I'd change my mind then. Recasting Tony Stark MIGHT actually work. But I think it's most probable that Disney just wouldn't want to RISK it.

Casting RDJ as Tony Stark was a lightning in the bottle. They can just milk it forever. Then introduce other version of Iron Man (not Tony Stark, or multiverse Tony) to be extra save.

Especially on how great the Casting of RDJ was.
I think Robert Downey Jr as IronMan has been one of the greatest in film history.

I love RDJ so much in this role, he is my favorite actor in general but I’m not ashamed saying IronMan is my favorite role he has portrayed.
Many fans of so many actors who do franchises sometimes are scared of saying their favorite role from their favorite actors was let’s Jack Sparrow or Voldemort.

But I’m not hehe 😜

Now if Marvel one day recast Tony Stark/IronMan and works well it won’t diminish RDJ’s legacy. RDJ will always be the man who turned IronMan a B list SuperHero into A list.

The new actor would just add a new touch. Sean Connery will always be the most amazing legendary bond but each actor who followed him added it’s own touch

True. But what if the new cast doesn't work? What if the Internet shunned whoever they recast into Tony Stark?

Yes, it worked well for James Bond. There were no Internet echo-chambers in Moore's time.

The worst thing that can happen to Iron Man is to become a meme like Morbius. (And making morbillion dollars in the box office... sorry, can't help it.)

RDJ's legacy would be intact either way, but still, it has a certain risk to the Iron Man character itself.

You are right again.
Fans could totally destroy things even before they get started. Social media can be vicious and say they want that actor out.

Now with Craig before he was everyone hatted him and now everyone think he is one of the best Bond actors.

It’s just think the MCU needs the OG6 Avengers so much and all should be recast soon. Phase 4 without them is going south

The Star Wars prequels certainly had problems including some wooden acting, silly characters and ridiculous dialogue. However, there was enough action and atmosphere to make them worth watching.
