Is real life full of shades of lamps?

If you think about it, most lamps have lamp shades on them. There are many lamps throughout the world, probably multiple lamps within your home. And pretty much all of these lamps have lamp shades on them. Even the ceiling fan lamps have shades on them although they look different from table lamp shades

My point is that naked lightbulbs, sans shades, are unattractive and the brightness is harsh on the eyes. So life is full of shades of lamps. It's something that you take for granted, but shouldn't. You might wake up tomorrow and all lamp shades could have totally vanished

They can take my lamp shade when they pry it from my cold dead fingers!

Nazis made lamp shades out of people. Sad and disturbing slice of historic humanity I know.

But even before that I think in some early 1900s a first light bulb was invented, it might have even been in Russia for all I know.

Do women shine as well even without the aid of light? What about men, or even, human beings.

Some lamp at some American fire station has been working for over 100 years old and has even entered the Guinness Book of World Records.

Oh and one great line from Aladdin (1992) the Disney original by Jafar - "Hmm, if only I'd gotten that LAMP!"

reply

I skeptical about the nazi story. Where the hell are all these human skin lamps we heard about our whole lives?

reply

Maybe they didn't last and after the end of WW2 some government agencies formed an international team and have confiscated them and scattered/destroyed them somehow albeit under the guise of mercy destruction.

reply

I had to replace a lamp shade a few months back and I couldn't believe what they're charging for these things now. You used to be able to pick these things up at the dollar store.

They build everything pretty badly now. My Mom had the same kitchen appliances and Hoover vac for at least twenty years when I was growing up.

They want us to buy the same damn thing every year, these fancy looking products are cheap garbage now. Examine your automobile, your new rifle, your lawn mower…they are likely half pot metal and plastic parts. None of this garbage will last 10 years.

America needs to get back into production…Our ability to produce enormous amounts of sturdy goods and equipment saved our asses during The Big One.

reply

I opened my car door last week and the handle exploded in my hand. Bits and pieces of plastic went flying everywhere. None of it was made of metal. I couldn't believe it.

Nothing is built worth a damn anymore.

We stupidly got into business with the Commies in China. Talk about lying down with dogs and waking up with fleas!

We built nearly 50,000 Sherman tanks and launched 15,000 p-51 Mustang fighters to wreck the fascists out there.

These Chinese Communists control production now?!?

There’s a fair number of decent American men that want a job!

Yes, and in the words of Brick of Anchorman, I love lamp.
