Anyone else hated when teachers would put you on the spot in class?

Does anyone else hate being put on the spot in class? I've generally known the answers and can answer them if they're on paper. However, when the teacher asks me upfront and everyone is looking at me, even if I know the answer completely, I stumble.

Even when I know the answer is 100% correct, I still fear answering because I'm worried about it getting wrong and looking bad in front of everyone else. Does anyone else relate to this?

This is a bad teaching method especially for introverts.

A school is not the best teaching method for everyone. It's just the easiest to manage in a very large scale.

But a school is not only about teaching. It's also basically a real life simulator.

Most often, in school or real life, it's not about answering the question or being 100% correct. Sometimes, it's just about handling the situation.

I really struggled with math and hated being put on the spot in math class. I just didn't know the answered and needed support not ridicule and intimidation.

I’d bet most people felt that way as kids and I’d bet most feel that way at work meetings as adults

When I was in elementary school I once had a teacher who picked on me all the time. She would throw staplers, chalks and books at me if I got an answer wrong. I had no idea why she was singling me out.

The following year one of my friends was in her class and the teacher threw a globe at him. When he told me that it made me feel a little better knowing it wasn't just me. She clearly had anger issues.

You really expect us to believe that the school system in Canada is that screwed up that an elementary school teacher could get away with that kind of overt physical abuse for at least 2 years in a row? It's a P.T. Barnum level of a claim, namely, "There's a sucker born every minute."

Bullshit! Apart from the kids supposedly terrorized, the witnesses in the classroom would have somehow mentioned it to their parents at the dinner table, creating somewhat of an outrage. Bullshit!

It happened to me a few times, but not in the scenario you described.

I had an English teacher in Jr.High who blindsided me several times by reading my book reports and creative short stories aloud in front of the entire class. I can still vividly remember the flush of embarrassment when all eyes in the classroom were suddenly focused on me.

I've known since then that I could never handle the lifestyle of a celebrity.

I misread the question, I thought you asked about whether we hated when teachers got you spit on in class.

There was a boy in eighth grade who would spit on you when you walked passed his desk. (Eighth grade seems old for this behavior, but I double-checked, and it was eighth grade.)

I did get in a fight with that kid once. I think he stopped spitting after that, at least I don't remember it happening again.

Before I got in the fight, I did tell the teacher about it, and from what I recall he did nothing about it.

Otherwise a good teacher, but that wasn't a good moment for him.

Me and the other kid were suspended for a few days (3 or 5, I don't recall).

Yes, I'm kind of shy. However I used to be an excellent student and answered quickly.
