Worst best picture winners

I think I would go with Chariots of Fire. Such a boring film.

Argo - borefest.
The Hurt Locker - Not a bad film but not Oscar worthy.
Shakespeare in Love - My understanding is Weinstein went on a shmooze fest to ensure this won over Saving Private Ryan.

Good actors, awful film and story.

Any of the five nominees from 2008. There's a reason the category expanded the following year.

Forrest Gump. Long time since I've watched Chariots of Fire but it was good at the time.
I've watched 74 of the 93 best picture movies. There may be a few others I cannot remember if I've watched or not (and to be honest a few I know I've watched long ago and don't really remember but I've counted them anyway) and there is a very few I don't want to watch - I should make a point of filling in the blanks.

Impressive.

I am at less than 50%

Gives me something fun to work on.

Haven't seen them all but I turned off Birdman (16) about at the halfway point.

reply

I liked Birdman but I saw it in the cinema where the surround sound jazz drummer drove it on. Be interesting to see if I enjoy it as much at home sometime.
