It looks like Kowalski had a good recent haul so here’s what I’ve got so far this year.

Has anyone else made any good physical media purchases?

NICE ASSORTMENT....I MUST HAVE RENTED ZOMBIE LAKE IN THE GIANT BOX VHS CASE ABOUT 30 TIMES WHEN I WAS A TEEN...GOD IS THAT MOVIE BAD.

reply

There's a scene in there where an actress actually looks at the camera and tries to keep from laughing. I absolutely love it.

Here it is. Start at 43:32 and look for the laughing lady on the right.

IF THEY EVER MADE A MOVIE WITH MORE UNDERWATER BUSH SHOTS...I MUST HAVE MISSED IT.

reply

Damn, your right about that!

reply

Hey, have ya ever seen Fear is the Key (1972)?

reply

NO I HAVE NOT...BUT BARRY NEWMAN HAS ME EXTREMELY INTERESTED IN SEEING IT NOW.

reply

I just watched it and he's kind of the Kowalski character and also in a major car chase scene. I just had to tell ya about it.

reply

Did you ever check this one out? I really think it’s right up your alley.

reply

The zombie effects were about on the same level as bad Halloween makeup. They didn't seem like they were trying that much.

reply

Yep, Jean Rollin often didn’t work with the largest of budgets.

I see you’ve been getting into the Gialli these days by your ratings on LetterboxD. I bought that first set you mentioned recently also and I was pleasantly surprised by Strip Nude for Your Killer. What’s your favorites in the genre so far?

reply

Some of my favourites:

What Have You Done to Solange? (1972)
Paranoia (1970)
Paranoia/Orgasmo (1969)
Torso (1973)
Black Sabbath (1963)
What Have They Done to Your Daughters? (1974)
The Strange Vice of Mrs Wardh (1971)
Strip Nude for Your Killer (1975)
Don't Torture a Duckling (1972)

What are your favourites?

reply

You’ve hit on some great ones there. I’d add some Argento ones also:

The Bird With the Crystal Plumage (1970)
Tenebre (1982)
Deep Red (1975)

reply

I liked Tenebre too. It's a 7/10 from me. Deep Red was a little underwhelming for me, a 6/10. The Bird With the Crystal Plumage is one that I have been meaning to get around to.

reply

Today I got 3 new blu rays. I picked up:

Spencer
Chud
Who Saw Her Die?

reply

Who Saw Her Die? - I haven’t seen that one yet. Let me know what you think of it.

reply

Will do. I haven't seen it yet either.

reply

Just finished watching Who Saw Her Die. It's an effective and interesting Giallo film. I would rate it a 7/10. Recommended.

reply

I’ll be adding it to my list. 👍

reply

Yesterday purchased Blind Faith CD for $1. It's a classic.

reply

It is. I used to have the album; played it constantly.

reply

"Can't Find My Way Home" is an all-time favorite of mine.

reply

What a great assemblage of musical talent and yet ironically, they only recorded this one album.

reply

The Great Alligator looks very interesting.

I searched and Amazon has it for rent for $.99 and YouTube has it free. Just search the name of the movie and Full Movie.

I put it on my watchlist on YouTube.

Thanks for your post!

reply

Be warned that the “Great Alligator” is not all that real looking but is entertaining.

reply

I'm about to buy The Sheltering sky vhs to make some sweet music vids with.

I’m going to have to look that one up.

Here's some info on Jackie Coogan ...
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001067/
Just scroll down his Filmology and you'll find The Addams Family (TV Series) 1964-1966

Another rather interesting thing about him was his role in passing the California Child Actors Bill.
From: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackie_Coogan

Charlie Chaplin's film classic The Kid (1921) made him one of the first child stars in the history of Hollywood. He later sued his mother and step-father over his squandered film earnings and provoked California to enact the first known legal protection for the earnings of child performers, the California Child Actors Bill, widely known as the Coogan Act. Coogan continued to act throughout his life, later earning renewed fame in middle age playing Uncle Fester in the 1960s television series The Addams Family.
