What are your thoughts about 'shippers?

eek!

reply

They're on the lower end of the bunny boiler spectrum.

If it’s a TV show with a sexy gal and a dude I guess I get it, I don’t read this ‘fanfic’ stuff, it’s a bit weird and maybe only for lonely, sad sorts

If they are writing about Han Solo getting it on with Chewbacca I would exit the thread and erase my history…That’s something I do not not want on my tombstone!

reply

WHAT THE FUCK IS A SHIPPER?🤨

reply

It's a fan wishing two characters would get together.

reply

WOW...THAT IS BRAND NEW TO ME.

reply

Yeah, it's a huge thing in fan communities.

I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE DATA FROM STAR TREK CYBER THROTTLING THAT READING RAINBOW GUY IN THE ROBOTIC VAGINA GLASSES...DOES THAT COUNT?🤔

reply

I have informed the FBI about your weird fantasy…They will swing by in the morning

No judgement. #AllShipsMatter

Now I will explain that shipping is no exclusive to romantic relationships many fans of the MCU we wished that Peter Parker Spider-Man ended up being adopted by Tony Stark and he didn’t die in endgame.

Peter becoming part of Tony stark’s family with Pepper Pots and Morgan.

okay I do enjoy reading fan fiction a lot and many fans even break the marvel canon by making Peter Tony stark’s son.

So many shippers are not about romance but father son relationship. For example there are some House MD fan fiction stories where Chase is adopted by House and he becomes nicer.

reply

It’s a lonely weirdo thing where fans of a series want two characters to get together…We are too old for this stuff but it’s definitely a thing

reply

I only heard the term a few months ago, courtesy of my daughter. I still don't understand why it's called 'shipping', though.

reply

I think it originally comes from ‘relationshipping’…
I’m pretty sure it’s a fan-term used by fans who want characters to hook up on TV shows…Probably teen kids made this up

I have two teens of my own, I have NO idea what they’re talking about half the time either, don’t feel bad Thirteen👍

reply

Ahhh, right.

And thanks! 😊

reply

based on what you're saying, it sounds like it's a new term for 'slash' fiction - except probably a bit filthier?

reply

I had to google slash fiction and yes, pretty much that though not exclusively gay relationships…I think ‘shipping’ also happens with straight characters but I’m 48 years old over here, wtf do I know!?!😆

reply

i never heard of it either.

Shut up

reply

I don’t shut up
I grow up
And when I look at you I throw up!

I see you haven't read Shrek is Love, Shrek is Life.

reply

No, please tell me Shreck left that little Eddie Murphy donkey alone!

My thoughts: creepy and socially stunted. Usually girls (not really women) who own a lot of cats. Too many cats.

Anyone who takes a "ship" seriously, or who engages in arguments with other fans about shipping, needs to be sent to work in a refugee camp for a year.

Get a life!

reply

They don't seem to understand when there is tension between the characters it will die off if they get together. Along with the show itself. 'Shipping is one of the last attempts to revive a dying show. Along with adding allegedly cute children.

reply

They are lame and too many are being hired to write Hollywood blockbusters like The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.

reply

What does that have anything to do with any of this?

reply

They annoy me so much. One of my friends ships jim and pam so much when she started the office that she couldn't stop talking about it and EVEN purchased a t-shirt that said " I ship pam and jim". I wanted pam and jim to be together, but I didn't go that far.
