I guess I was when I was younger. Then I got older and stopped giving a shit about movies myself. And pretty much detest all of Hollywood as a whole. Once you see how bullshit and manipulative they are, you can't unsee it.

My dad has met some people like that at his job. He's a power plant engineer, and he's been sad to discover that outside the workplace, many of his co-workers were idiots that liked doing or watching stuff not made for intellectuals. Poor guy tried making friendly talk with his co-workers at a number of jobs by talking about movies, and many go "Oh I haven't seen that," or "you sure watch a lot of movies."

Look, I get that the quality of movies has gone downhill in the past 5 years, but surely some of these people remember what they watched in times past and still enjoy those films, right? Surely even older movies are more fun than watching sports or hanging out at the bar and getting drunk. Geeze.

Not really. People love different things. I love sports and movies, but not a fan of swimming or going to the beach yet there are people that live to do just that.
