If they had some consistency and reason perhaps. But it all boils down to; White Straight Male = Evil. Everyone else = Good. Of course there is also a hierarchy of victimhood within the everyone else group.

i don't think it's overblown at all.
i do think it's messy and complicated like lots of things, and there are no doubt lots and lots of cases of people who have done wrong that are rightfully being held accountable, and they try to wriggle out by claiming cancel culture. fine.
but there are lots and lots of cases that highlight a real clear intolerance, particularly in academic circles and among journos, of any kind of wrong-think or any kind of cultural/gender insensitivity.

if such things were outliers, then i would say who cares.
but i don't believe they are outliers. it seems to me very much part of a clear pattern of intolerance for people who don't abide by pretty new and i'd say pretty radical & in some cases almost certainly incorrect beliefs on race and gender and all sorts of things.
They're actually demanding that he gets fired? Because a movie had blackface? If they're smart enough to know the history of blackface, they should be smart enough to know that a teacher shouldn't be fired for showing it.
shareLiberals have done a fine job of creating a whole generation who are looking for every way to be offended by anything, including pronouns. Yes, we now live in a world where, if you use the wrong pronoun, you can get in trouble. Take a moment and let that sink in. It's not overblown.
