Have you even gotten into a band because you heard their song from a movie?
For me it was The Wanton Bishops. I heard one of their songs in the movie "Horns" (2013) -- don't watch it, it's bad, and that's when I got into the band.

sharedefinitely, though i'm at a bit of a loss to give a lot of examples...
but i know i got into youth lagoon when i heard them on...jeez, i'm pretty sure it was short term twelve. that was definitely an instance where i immediately needed to know who that band was.

Very soothing track. And yes, it was Short Term 12.
I had trouble coming up with example as well and I know I've gotten into many bands from movies.
thanks for confirming - i was sure it was st12, but i know better than to trust my memory on anything at this point, so i went to imdb & a few other places to try to confirm, and i couldn't it listed anywhere.
shareactually, because i'm a bit ocd, i just went to prime and streamed the credits of short term 12, & montana isn't listed.
so now i'm left with wondering where i heard it.
i just checked his imdb credits, and the only thing youth lagoon's listed in that i've seen is 'kings of summer,' and that used a different track.
so maybe i completely invented hearing that song in a movie.
i'm now questioning every memory i have.
Weird because it shows up on a Google search without typing in the name of the song. Maybe it was only in the trailer.

ah, that must have been it. i just watched the trailer, and montana is used in the last 40 seconds of it.
funny, cuz i had this very distinct memory of montana playing during the closing scenes, but it's definitely not there. or at least it's not there on the stream that's on amazon, and i doubt it's been revised.
No but I did start listening to Run The Jewels because I heard a song on Silicon Valley.
shareYes, I got into The National when I heard their song, 'Think You Can Wait' towards the end of the film, Win Win (2011)

I heard they're a pretty dark band.
