reply

I OWN AND HAVE SEEN ALL 41.🙂

reply

I owned a chunk of them but I lost a bunch of my DVD/Blu-Ray collection a couple of years ago in a fire.

reply

THAT REALLY SUCKS.

reply

Dayum!

😎

reply

Ahh Kowalski, don't forget that you also own another from 1995, namely, Bye Bye Love, a film I still don't own.

Let's see, I own four films that are on the above list ...
Apollo 13
Father of the Bride II
Get Shorty
The Usual Suspects

I also own four 1995 films that are not on the list ...
The Cure
Mr. Holland's Opus
Murder In the First
Sabrina

Finally, another favorite from 1995 that has yet to be mentioned ... Crimson Tide.
Gonna have to get that one one day.

reply

YES...I WAS JUST BRAGGING ON MY BYE BYE LOVE DVD TODAY IN FACT...NOT TO BRAG SOME MORE BUT I OWN ALL THOSE OTHER FILMS YOU MENTIONED AS WELL.😎

reply

I came very close to ordering a used DVD of Bye Bye Love for $40 two days ago, but I decided to buy a new DVD of
True Believer (1989) instead. I've always liked that James Woods/Robert Downey, Jr. film a lot.

reply

I'M PRETTY SURE I HAVE THAT ON VHS...GOOD FLICK.

reply

I just ordered another 1995 flick from Amazon ...
The Blu-ray of Empire Records, along with the DVD of Defending Your Life (1991).
Both are due to arrive Sunday, July 11th.
And so ends today's DVD/Blu-ray purchases.
Time to go to work.

Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention that earlier this morning I ordered the DVD of
Norma Jean and Marilyn (1996).

reply

EMPIRE RECORDS ON BLU RAY...THAT IS VERY COOL...A BIT JEALOUS.

reply

amazing that Rob Roy wasn't even on that list.

reply

Honestly, never seen it(or heard of it, until now)

But like I said on my OG post, definitely not gonna be able to name all of 'em

reply

Liam Neesan, Tim Roth, John Hurt, Jessica Lange, Brian Cox

my favorite film of the year.

here's a great scene :

reply

Wait, your favorite film of '95? Really? Wow, that's a high praise. Especially considering the excellent films that came out that year.

Definitely going on my watchlist. Gotta check it out for myself.

reply

cool. i think you'll dig it, even if you don't hold it in quite the same esteem as i do.

reply

There were some great films that year, but also some bad and mediocre ones. There have been other years that I would rank higher. I think 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1993 were better years.

reply

No doubt. There are probably many years of film better than '95. It's just that after watching the 3 I mentioned, I was surprised to learn they all came out in the same year.

After a little googling, I saw the list of films of that year & I was genuinely surprised how many '95 films I'd seen & loved

reply

Your list omits lots of 1995’s best:

Safe
Welcome to the Dollhouse
La Haine
Angels and Insects
Dead Man
To Die For

And includes a lot of garbage IMHO. The Net? Johnny Mnemonic? Tommy Boy? Seriously?

reply

Never said they were the best, just tried to list a bunch of 1995 films.

I've never actually seen Johnny Mnemonic or Tommy Boy. Can't comment on their quality.

I remember really liking The Net when I was a kid but I genuinely don't even remember it THAT much. And I haven't seen it ever since. Will probably rewatch it someday

reply

THE NET,TOMMY BOY AND JOHNNY MNEMONIC ARE ALL AWESOME!...AS ARE DEAD MAN,TO DIE FOR,WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE AND SAFE...I OWN AND ENJOY THEM ALL.

I HAVE NOT SEEN ANGELS AND INSECTS OR LA HAINE.

reply

I sought out and rewatched Johnny Mnemonic last week. deliberately.

reply

Strange Days

Mute Witness as well

reply

Oh man, totally forgot about Strange Days. I remember really loving that film back in the day. But I honestly haven't seen it in literally 2 decades.

Will definitely put it on my watchlist

reply

You haven't watched Strange Days again because you are not a psycho, and because it sucked.

reply

GOOD CHOICES...LOVE BOTH...FINALLY GOT A COPY OF MUTE WITNESS RECENTLY.

reply

You forgot the Power Rangers movie!

reply

It took way too long for someone to say this.

reply

Oh yeah, sorry about that. I don't even remember that film but I'm pretty sure I loved it as a kid.

reply

Lol, just kidding. I was too old to be in their target audience. Besides, it doesn't even have the original cast. No Jason, Zack or Trini!☹

reply

I was exactly the target audience for everything Power Rangers & I did freaking love 'em as a kid but it just became one of those things that I fell off of as I grew up.

Now, apart from their colors, I genuinely have no idea what the Rangers' names even are...

reply

Holy shit, how is that possible???😱

Please tell me you do still remember the lyrics to the theme song!

reply

Nope. I genuinely have no idea why I blocked this from my memory. I even used to collect the PR stickers.

But now I barely even remember anything Power Rangers related from my childhood

reply

🎵Go, Go, Power Rangeeers!🎵

reply

Love your thread!! If you follow my weekly post you might know 95 is my ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE YEAR, I often talk about it and I also mentioned that Im on a quest to watch all of 95's films.

AMAZING list indeed. Unbelieveble actually.

reply

I can see why it's your all time favorite. It was an excellent year for film. When I looked it up, I was genuinely surprised at the amount of my favorite films released in '95

I think my favorite might be 1999. But also, 1994 was another great year for films. I honestly haven't done enough research/looked up enough years of films to make a decision on my favorite year.

A more recent one is 2014. I do remember that year fondly & it was honestly pretty amazing year for films AND Television.

reply

I wouldn’t argue with 94 or 99 being contenders. Especially with Fight Club.

96 was also filled with gems.

reply
