Anyone here that prefers winter over summer?

It seems most people like summer. I don't. I like freezing, cold, snow, etc. All that good stuff. My favourite part is the winter scenery with the snow and being inside the house with fireplace on. The coziness of it all. I would be happy at a place like Alberta or even Northwest Territories. I'm an introvert and I like seeing less people around in wintertime.

I hate heat and the disgusting humidity.

reply

No, I'm a Summer guy.

reply

Living in sunny Bournemouth, I'm not surprised. 😉

I just finished watching a BBC series where in one episode it was referred to as, "...the British Riviera."

reply

I'm sure Andy will chime in.

reply

No doubt. In the same episode I remember it being referred to as, "seven miles of beaches and sun."

reply

I enjoy summer as long as it doesn't get too hot and humid. I've never been a beach person, though. Being out in the heat and sun is just not my thing, and I was never one to lie out in the sun, trying to get a tan. Nope, nope, nope. And then there's all that sand that gets everywhere...

reply

I used to love the beach when I lived in Hawaii. I seem to remember you having lived there as well.

Now, it's a different story and I agree with you about the heat and humidity, and there seems to be a consensus here about those conditions. Once again, I just emerged from another heat wave for most of this month, which I don't recall usually happening during this time of the year. They're talking about the worst drought in 20 years for the western part of the country while there's record rainfall and flooding for the eastern part. I'm convinced there's something to climate change/global warming.

reply

Quite right.

reply

Naturally.

Autumn is my favourite season. I don't like extreme weather. I mean the heat wave we are having right now sucks for me. I think 20c is a nice daytime high. This 35 to 40c is just too warm for me. Winters aren't too bad, and I like winter sports, but I again, anything colder than -20c is too cold. -10c is nice winter weather.

reply

If the temperature never got any higher than 25°C that would be fine with me.

reply

I can't stand the summer, especially July and August. Climate change is making things worse with the weather normally found in the southern latitudes slowly creeping northward. For the past two decades the winters in my area, which at one time were legendary, have become milder and seem to be about 2-3 weeks shorter.

I like the fall and early winter. Things settle back into more of a routine, it's football and hockey season, there's all the holidays and the end of that idiotic Daylight Savings Time. I do like the early part of spring until around the end of May. After that it gets too warm.

The nice thing about having four seasons is when you start getting tired of one, another soon takes its place.

reply

The only reason I don't like the fall and early winter are the shorter days.

reply

> Anyone here that prefers winter over summer?

Yeah, me. I can't stand being hot and sweaty.

reply

I prefer summer, samoanjoe's prefers winter

I'm not sure why I like that guy so much!

reply

Definitely because of my rock hard abs.

reply

Your rock hard abs are awe-inspiring!

But winter still sucks bro😛

reply

No it doesn't!

reply

You dare besmirch the name of winter in my presence?!?!

reply

nice and warm today

go habs

reply

Go Bolts.

Mid 90s today here in New York and slightly humid, did a bit of gardening this evening and jumped in the pool...Winter sucks!

reply

Now I do. I used to like summer when the evenings were calm, cool below 70 degrees and dry but now they are humid sweltering messes because the increased gases are trapping all the heat down below late into the nights.

I slept so well during the winter and even the polar vortex spell we had. Now the summers are unbearable and where I live all the houses were built without central a/c.

I'm an extrovert but I can't stand sweating all the time.

reply

I hate it. It's especially gross wearing jeans and feeling sticky/muggy.

reply

Where I live winters are comparatively mild ( generally, only the morning lows get below freezing, an average of 5 inches of snowfall per year ) and so I much prefer it to summer. It would be a tough call to make comparing a more intense winter climate to summer, but I can always add more clothing to stay warm.

I just can't stand the heat & humidity of the summer...at all. I suffer horribly. I'd rather toil inside an air conditioned facility than partake in even my favorite activities outdoors during the summer.

reply

I feel the same way. I also love the cozy feeling locked away in a cabin in winter in front of a warm fireplace.

reply

I prefer spring over other seasons, although fall is okay, too. I don't like temps above 80°F and high humidity should be illegal. I prefer spring because we're coming out of that long tunnel of winter and its dark and dreary days. Temps are warmer, the grass is greening up, trees and flowers are starting to bloom, and the bugs aren't really out yet. Fall is good too, with all the colorful trees, but it's followed by winter so... Summer is fine as long as it stays below 80°F! Unfortunately, our spring seems to last about two weeks these days. 🙁
