What are some shows that got you absolutely hooked from the FIRST episode

I feel like a lot of streaming shows nowadays don't get interesting until like the halfway point. You get people being like, "You have to keep watching. It'll get better". Personally, I like giving shows a 3 episode test. If it hasn't sold me by the third episode, then I'm bailing.

And I love slow burn shows but you gotta keep me interested in order to keep watching. I remember not so long ago that the first episode aka The Pilot basically "had to sell you" the show. Most of my favorite shows, like 90% of them, got me hooked on the first episode. Here are some of my faves...

1. Fringe
2. Lost
3. Doom Patrol
4. The X-Files
5. Supernatural
6. The Flash
7. Prison Break
8. Justified
9. Arrow
10. WestWorld
11. The Mandalorian
12. Psych
13. Battlestar Galactica
14. Alias
15. Person of Interest

Sure, some of them went downhill afterwards & I kinda gave up on them but that first episode of theirs is still freaking amazing

Game Of Thrones - I liked the teasers for the first episodes so much I bought the books and read them (they were all very long and I get easily distracted so this took about 4 months...No regrets)

Dexter - The idea of a violent serial killer who had a thing for murdering really bad guys was very cool (the novels were only so-so though)

reply

Dexter got HOOKED. I didn't get to start the show until it ended but that first episode was just amazing.

I never got to finish The Glades. I just fell off & never found the time to go back. Just putting it off

But yeah, it had a great first episode.

reply

We enjoyed Glades, but as so many networks have done they left us hanging! The last episode was an attention getter then it was cancelled! We hoped there would be a made for tv movie to wrap up, but it was a no go. I would advise anyone not to stream the episodes as you will be p….d off!

I failed to mention one. The first episode of the original Mickey Mouse Club back in the ‘50’s.

I literally just started WestWorld. I've only seen an episode & a half. Its what "inspired" this post. That first episode just completely hooks you

reply

Remembered one more, Almost Human. Underrated sci-fi series that got cancelled way too early by FOX as usual

reply

Please don't remind me! I literally quit network TV forever because of how upset I was when FOX sabotaged the hell out of Almost Human (deliberately ran it out of order), canceled it and then replaced with a colossal piece of crap reality show called Utopia. I was so hoping that maybe CBS or the CW would pick it up, but it never did!

reply

It genuinely breaks my heart every time I remember that show. Awesome sci-fi show & so well cast. Michael Ealy & Karl Urban were so great together.

But leave it to FOX to cancel any good Sci-fi show.
