Which is your favorite movie of all time?
Charade (1963)
sharebeyond the valley of the dolls
shareWhat’s your top 5 Russ Meyer films?
sharetop 3 are easy. these are all among my favourite films.
beyond...
faster pussycat
vixen
after that, there's a pretty big drop-off...i'd rank them more or less like this...
mudhoney
supervixens
up
motorpsycho
beneath the valley of the ultravixens
i don't think i've seen any others...or if i have, they're lost from my memory.
do you have a meyer top 5?
No, I really don’t but I might should explore his filmography. When I first discovered FPKK I went on a bit of a Russ Meyer binge and watched several of his other films. I remember Mudhoney and Supervixens standing out but it was years ago. By your rankings I’ll watch Beyond the Valley of the Dolls and Vixen soon. I’ll report back after.
sharei don't think vixen is seen as one of his top tier films, but i absolutely love it.
i will defend beyond the valley of the dolls as one of the perfect films of all time until i die. it truly has everything. lesbians. hermaphrodites. nazis. a woman giving head to a .45. the strawberry alarm clock. it has it all.
btw, if you're a criterion subscriber, beyond the valley of the dolls was added to the channel today.
they've also nicely included the dvd extras, including roger ebert's commentary. i'm really looking forward to revising that.
Your in lust with Audrey who I never was attracted to, is Breakfast at Tiffanys in your top ten?
share"Your in lust with Audrey who I never was attracted to"
WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THE FILM CHARADE?🤔
Audrey Hepburn is the leading lady in Charade. Over the years I have seen many guys declaring everlasting love for her that colors their movie choices.
shareI wouldn't be surprised if many people choose a film that has one of their favorite actors in it.
shareFor me its more than that. their has to be a strong sexual attraction to the female lead for it to make my best lists. Joan Leslie propels Sgt. York into my top 10.
shareThat explains so much. Not just about you, but the idea that there has to be a strong sexual attraction to make a best list is just....weird to me. Is it only movies that have a female lead?
shareIts like the scene in Shawshank when the convicts are watching Gilda flip her hair and they visibly groan, some actresses can make movies memorable and very rewatchable. When Marge asked Homer why her suit was so revealing he said that's what turns a mediocre voyage into a fantastic one.
shareNo. I've never finished watching that movie, it's so f*cking boring.
