I saw the first one when it first came out (I was 16), and I really didn't get what the fuss was about. Star Wars has never done it for me.
shareNo. I was an intelligent young adult when I saw the films for the first time, and I still love the films now that I'm an old, intelligent, professional adult who can afford $6 a month for Disney+ and "The Mandalorian".
Become like Yoda, perhaps I have, can see with the mind of a child?

Heard of them before, I have not. Joining them, a blaster held to the head it would take!
shareor just a grown-up goof
shareI remember people raving about Star Wars as if it were the greatest thing in the history of cinema. "Wow, man! I've seen Star Wars, like, twelve times!" It dominated the pop culture to the point where CBS enthusiastically aired the Star Wars Holiday Special in 1978 (a total bomb that George Lucas would love to see destroyed).
I saw Star Wars I think around six months after its initial release and was somewhat let down. I liked the film, but had higher expectations due to all the buzz surrounding it.
That's the problem when something gets over-hyped.

I was 27 when the first movie was released and took my 4 year old son to them. Love Star Wars.
shareNO...BUT IT HELPS...NOSTALGIA IS A HUGE ASPECT OF WHY WE ENJOY WHAT WE ENJOY...ITS ALSO WHY WE FIND LESS FAVORITE THINGS AS WE GET OLDER.
shareI saw it not long after it first came out in '77 amidst all the hype. I was 15, and my reactions were just like what others have said upthread. I didn't dislike it, but I didn't like it with any kind of enthusiasm at all. It certainly didn't live up to the hype.
Over the next few months, I distinctly recall people being quite dismayed, or even annoyed with me when ( if they brought the subject up ) I told them I just wasn't that into that movie. As if I was some sort of implacable kill-joy.
