Why does everyone think they're so oppressed?

Men, women, black people, white people, gay people, straight people, cis people, trans people, etc. They all think everything, such as society, the media, Hollywood, the government, etc, just absolutely hates them, and wants to get rid of them. Why is the world so paranoid and delusional?

reply

Because we got rid of religion. It was the only thing keeping us in order.

given that some persons/groups actually are marginalized, and that some factions wish to minimize the fact, it is also a fact that claiming victimhood seems to be a moderately attractive option these days.

Because for the last ten years or so, people have become increasingly inundated in virtually every aspect of their lives by messaging and ideology convincing them that they are oppressed to various degrees, and even worse, making them WANT to be as oppressed as possible. A concerted effort is being made across the Western world to turn victimhood into social currency. They even have a ranking system which dissects and evaluates all the individual "oppression points" an individual can claim based on the intersectionality of various immutable characteristics each individual was born into (i.e. race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc). The more victimhood/oppression points a person can claim, the more reverence, privilege and social currency the person is given. This ranking system is called the "Progressive Stack."

It is disgusting, and does nothing but create division, resentment and tribalism, but there it is.
