What's the most outdated piece of technology you still use today?

I have a nine year old HP laptop computer that runs as well today as it did when I first purchased it. I don't need a powerful computer because I use it mostly to surf the net, listen to music, watch YouTube videos and copy video and audio media to my phone.

I also bought a Logitech wireless mouse eight years ago and it works great too. I've only had to replace the battery in the mouse once a couple years ago.

What about you? Whats the oldest piece of technology you still use today?

I have a Realistic MD-1000 laserdisc player that still works. It's probably closing in on 30 years old.

I still have my landline (for DSL internet), but I rarely use it. Will probably keep it because it works during power outages. Wireless mouse used with my laptop (not a fan of touchpads). My car has a CD player, but that's about it for technology as it's 19 years old now. I still use a clothesline, if that counts - although I do own a clothes dryer. Clothesline is pretty useless in the winter around here.

I hang my clothes too. They last WAY longer. That wad of lint in your lint catcher IS your clothes! You can hang your clothes in sub freezing weather (I do this) and they do get dry. Rain or snow, on the other hand...

I have dual monitors for my desktop and the smaller one that I use is a 2008 HP, but bought it in 2009 so going on 12 years. The other monitor is actually just a HD TV. The old monitor still looks fantastic and gets great color. I think I bought it for $80 at Best Buy.

I still use an alarm clock for the radio mostly in the garage.

Just replaced my sump pump for the first time after 12 years! Was playing with fire on that one! I guess that's not outdated tech though.

I still have and occasionally use an old fashioned tin opener. The kind with the piercing blade where you push the point through the top of the tin and then laboriously see-saw it back and forth to progressively cut the top open. It's a pain in the arse but it just keeps working. Although of course most tins these days have a ring tab and you just pull the lid off.

I also still use a landline push button telephone handset and an old 4:3 monitor on my second desktop computer.

Ipod. I love it!

Are they really outdated though?

Everyone's streaming on their phones now.

I'm impressed you got 9 years out of your laptop. I don't think I've gotten more than 5 out of any laptop.

I believe that my brother has called VCRs "obsolete" since like fifteen years ago.
But still, I didn't get rid of my VCR.
After I've gotten vaccinated, I intend to get my brother-in-law to help me get started on a project though.
I want to get my VCR tapes digitalized, so I can upload stuff on YouTube and such things.
That will be interesting.

I have a few hundred vinyl albums that I still enjoy but the record player is just a 4 year old Jensen

The records are from the 60s-80s and nearly all of them still work!

Vinyl is making a comeback. You're not using anything outdated, you're actually one step ahead.

It's a bit of a cutter though but I have that sorted out👍

I do like the slight 'scratch' sound of the needle touching the record and the occasional warped groove...my Beatles White Album is fairly warped which makes it very kooky and fun😬
