Hell yeah to Joan Jett...Tina too!

Jett was like that crazy chick you really wanted to ask out in High School but you were pretty sure she'd drink all of your beer and wreck your car...She was hot stuff!

reply

She still is.

reply

I'm going to look up her recent pics right now

Uh, I'll be back in 5 minutes or so...😒

reply

I saw a documentary on her recently and she’s become good friends with Miley Cyrus (who apparently idolised Joan Jett). In fact Cyrus has adopted the Joan Jett haircut just now.

reply

She looks good at 62!

I found a doc on Prime about her called 'Bad Reputation'

I'll likely check it out this week👍

Cyrus has a fine voice too and does the bad ass girl act like Jett, I can see the connection

I saw her in concert once, 1981 or 1982. She was the warmup act. IIRC the main act was the Rolling Stones. At one point she raised her arm to wave to the audience and everyone could see she didn't shave her armpits. She could get away with that too.

reply

HA!
She really is a crazy bad girl!

Joan Jett and The Rolling Stones...That sounds like a heck of a concert

Debbie Gibson
Kylie Minogue

Chrissie Hynde

reply

Underrated songwriter.

i just checked my lastfm account, which i haven't updated in years but i once upon a time religiously made sure tracked every single song i played.

the first act that came up with a female vocalist was way down at 43 - saint etienne. so let's say that sarah cracknell is my favourite. and i certainly fancied her a fair bit back in the day, as the kids like to say.

after that...

48 dionne warwick
82 lucinda william
93 bongwater (ann magnuson)
116 barbara manning
136 cocteau twins (liz fraser)
165 sam phillips
174 the pipettes
179 laura nyro

that's it from the top 200. i guess i don't like listening to female vocalists much.

reply

I was just listening to "Upstairs by a Chinese Lamp" - fine song.

reply

i actually don't know that track. i'll give it a listen. thanks...
