bars of soap

Covid-19 masks. We're just gonna admit this little bug is here to stay and go back to our old way of living without fear.

after i am vaccinated.

Bars of soap should be in demand more. Plastic bottles of liquid soap are wasteful. Hand washing and hygiene will be something that survives the covid era as the threat of future pandemics loom.

reply

yes ... i just wrote lots of reasons bar soap is better ... but not in public places.

Woe there buster.... WTF you can't say that.

You shu you .....

You shut up.

reply

Really? I've always been using bars of soap. Never thought people were transitioning to liquid/etc soap.

reply

the bars of soap section in the supermarkets are getting smaller and smaller.

Electric charger cables - it'll all be wireless charging soon.

for phones?

reply

For everything. It’s already happening the UK. Mobile phones initially, then everything else.

reply

Right... because wasting power to turn it into an EM Field and back into power later makes total logical sense (not). It's not that we can't do it, it's that it's a complete waste of power and you get faster charging and consume less power with a 5 cent (marked up to $20) cable.

It's similar to why Ethernet is always going to be faster than WiFi, the data fidelity over even a low quality ethernet cable is better than pumping up enough power to travel through an insulator like air (and all the objects in between).

I only use bar soap. I don't like the liquid soap for these reasons.
1. The solvent based stuff is not good for your skin. If I used too much I get dry skin,
2. The plastic bottles are adding to plastic waste in the world.
3. They sometimes have little scrubbing balls in them made of plastic - not good.
4. I don't like anti-bacterial stuff, exposure to bacteria is good for your immune system, and if you kill off your good bacteria is leaves space for the bad bacteria to accumulate.
5. Liquid soap is more expensive than a bar of soap.
6. I can feel when I have washed all the bar soap off my hands, but I never know with liquid soap.
7. Liquid soap is also wasteful, people used to much and it just goes down the drain.

That said, liquid soap is good for public restrooms. I prefer the real soap, not the hand-sanitizer stuff.

reply

Excellent reasons. Agree, liquid soap is the only option for public restrooms.

Have you tried Marseille soap? It is so moisturizing but doesn’t leave a residue and it has a nice subtle scent.

reply

I just use the Dial hypoallergenic soap that is pure, no scent, and very cheap. it works great.

reply

I am using that too now. It was at my local supermarket. Nice stuff.

reply

bars of soaps dry up about half through.

reply

They do become small but I think I use about 70% of it. If one is really cheap they sell these presses that push old pieces of bar soap together into a new bar ... but I've never bothered with that. Just a regular bar of soap lasts a long time. I keep one in my kitchen and one per bathroom.

reply

Marseille soap lasts a long time and keeps it’s quality down to the last bit.
