Are you one of those “can’t stand animals in captivity” people?
So you’ll never visit a zoo or marine park?
shareSo you’ll never visit a zoo or marine park?
shareNo
shareDon't really care about neither of those things. They don't fascinate me at all.
shareNo
For Orcas some good arguments can be made for not keeping them penned in and I sort of feel the same way about big cats, but in general no
What about dolphins?
shareThey do seem quite intelligent and social
It's a hard discussion to have as I quite like zoos and aquariums for educational purposes and entertainment but big smart animals might suffer in small confinement
Dolphins need to keep Ryan Fitzpatrick. He went to Harvard too.
shareAnimals born in captivity can never be released so parks and zoos are essential to these animals.
I think most people have an issue with WILD animals being caught and kept in small cages with no social contact and humans taking their photo. There's no welfare for these animals. They are just a moneymaker.
Zoos and parks do everything possible to give animals a healthy life.
In Europe at least.
No, because modern zoos don't keep animals in cages. They're provided with habitats.
😎
I wouldn’t say I can’t stand it but it’s sometimes sad to see majestic wild animals circling around an enclosure.
But your question is fundamentally flawed because it doesn’t even acknowledge the breed and release programs many zoos are involved in which have the ultimate goal of saving endangered animals and increasing their numbers in the wild. So it’s entirely possible to dislike the concept of animals in captivity and still visit zoos because you understand that these days they’re not just about profit at the expense of animal welfare.
The question is also flawed because it feels inflammatory and derogatory.
What is inferred with ‘one of those people’? , rather than ‘are you someone that’.
